Replace Battery

Basic question, should of been easy but between being late and tired could not figure out. Have a 2007 4 cyl Se Fusion, how do i replace the battery?

 

Did the following: 1. Took off retaining bar 2. cleaned terminals so can remove easily 3. loosen nuts on both positive and negative terminals. Usually there is enough slack on the battery to remove but do not see how to remove. Am I missing something??

Are you replaceing your battery because it needs it or preventive maintenance ? I am not sure how long these new batteries are suppose to last.

Ummm, you mean there isn't even enough slack to lift the wire terminal off the battery? Not trying to be insulting, just asking: Are you experienced with maintenance stuff? Maybe it's just stuck after being on there for years and just needs a little 'encouragement', otherwise known as a technical tap.

 

@Dennis: The battery may be bad after 3-4 years, depending on bunches of stuff. When I lived on Guam I don't think I knew anyone who had a car battery last much more than a year.

The terminals can be hard to remove but they will come off. I've never had a battery last more than about 3 years, but YMMV.

 

Just take it to Autozone - they'll install the new one for free in 10 minutes.
