Fusion Dash rattle

I have a chronic rattle in the dash, drivers side where the A piller trim meets the corner of the dash. If I put my hand on the top of the dash and press lightly, the rattle stops. Has anyone had this problem? Anyone have any suggestions other than riding around with my hand on the dash!!

Thanks!!!!

I just bought a 2011 Fusion Sport and it took me 2 weeks to find the culprit causing that same rattle in my car. On mine it's the coin holder tray in the dash right above the headlight switch , If i hold it or pull it out while going over small bumps, the rattling stops. I'm seeing my dealer Monday and Ill ask what they can do about it.

Interesting! You Info/Setup/Reset buttons are down by your headlight dial and stuff. Weird. Mine are on my steering wheel. Do you mind taking a picture of the buttons on your steering wheel, out of curiosity?

Mine are there too. Does your ride have Sync / Cruise Control? That's what's on my steering wheel. Cruise controls on left side and Sync on right.

Sure does!

The info/trip buttons change location to steering wheel about mid-year of 2010

Ah, and that's why mine looks like this:

Does anyone know what the light icon thing is at about 7 o'clock on the headlight switch? I have one too and am not sure, is it for foglights (to pull out the turn knob)?

mine looks different than that. Cruise only on the left side, and the top 3 buttons are (off the top of my head) Speed +, Speed -, and cancel? and the bottom button is off/on. the bottom one is the only one that moves 2 ways.

Yeah, that's how they used to look until part-way through the 2010 model year, apparently:

Yeah that's the foglight icon. It lights up when the fog lights are on, if I remember correctly.

Getting back to the original subject of this thread... the coin drawer wasn't the problem since its started doing it again, I'm bringing it in tomorrow for the dash/driver-door rattle. It's hard to tell where it's coming from but at least the mechanic heard it when we went for a drive yesterday. I hope they can find what's causing it, but my hopes aren't that high ...at least they'll take the time to look.

I know you mention you think it's coming from the dash, but have you tried checking the trim piece around the lock/latch release handle? I know various nuisance noises can transmit a distance from their actual source. I have a small, random rattle on the passenger side that goes away if I put a little pressure on the aforementioned trim piece.

The icon you're referring to is more at the 11 o'clock position [amber colored], and yes it does illuminate when the fog lights are turned on. The one at the 7 o'clock position [white] is the indication on how to turn the fog lights on. The downward-pointing triangle is supposed to indicate that the fog lights are turned on when the switch is pulled out (towards the driver).

Just thought of something else; i had a bad rattle coming from where I thought was the right side dash by the door. It turned out to be the sun visor was not "clipped" back in place.

If I've got a bass-heavy tune cranked, I can hear my sunglasses vibrating in the compartment in the headliner that holds your sunglasses...

Exactly. When my passenger side visor is loose it sounds like the noise is coming from the rear passenger door. Now I just look at the visor anytime I hear any type of rattle and 9 times out of 10 that's it.

Turns out it was the remote car starter box in the hood that wasn't properly secured. They tightened it and added a bracket after putting in some foam to make sure the thing wouldn't move again. They were fast to find the problem, now all is quiet. My dealer isn't the one that puts them in , the guys that do it for them around here also do some auto detailing. Needless to say , I wont be going there to have my windows tinted.
