Nick 2010
Sport offers the 3.5 and the SEL you can only get the 2.5 and 3.0 Sport offers a different 6 speed auto from the others 18" wheels Sport interior There are others too lol
durasel
Some owners are having problems with the newer 6F35 transmission in the SE and SEL models, (4 or 6cyl). The 3.5 sport has the aisin transmission that doesn't seem to have too many problems and is also used in the MKZ. That's the clincher for me. Even though the sport costs more and gets a bit less milage, that will be my choice when I look for a used fusion. I really don't want to worry about the transmission!!

AeR0
how reliable is the ford AWD? and what extra maintenance is involved with them?
akirby
how reliable is the ford AWD? and what extra maintenance is involved with them? No extra maintenance. There were early issues with PTU seals leaking but that seems to have been fixed.
Jshell757
Ordered a 2012 Sport AWD. Will be much happier with it for a few reasons: 1. No EPS Steering 2. No 6F35 Trans 3. Sport Suspension 4. 3.5-V6 5. AWD means there is no Torque Steer. The AWD is nice is all weather conditions, even dry as it will eliminate the Torque Steer, goes through snow with ease, and even wet or rain conditions will be improved. Small price to pay to keep the wheels on the road.

Small price to pay to keep the wheels on the road. Wise choices. You'll be very happy with this setup. The AWD isn't just for snow. It's awesome in the rain as well. It's quite confidence inspiring. If you like spirited cornering it shines there as well. You can bring the back end of the car around by playing with the throttle and engaging the rear differential. You're right about the EPAS and transaxle as well. The Aisin AW unit in these cars is extremely well-behaved in all conditions and doesn't seem to have any of the issues attributed to the 6F35. The only weak spot is the unfortunate choice Ford made in choosing the Goodyear RS-A tires as OE. They'd be put to better use on the side of a boat dock or as a tree swing, IMO Now you just have to wait but waiting's half the fun, right
redfire06
for the love of god don't make the same mistake i did, buy the sport!! the 6F35 is a garbage gear box, period the end good night! BUT REALLY lol

drolds1
im confused what cars have theThe Aisin AW and what cars have the 6F35 ???? Only the 3.5L-equipped cars have the Aisin transaxle. For the Fusion, this means only the Sport. All others (2.5L, 3.0L) have the 6F35 (hybrid excluded).

Jshell757
Believe it or not, I actually like the Goodyear RS-A tires. I had them on my Grand Marquis with the HPP package and that thing did just fine in all weather conditions. The only thing I did was add a Ford Track-Lok unit to it, and it went through the snow. The RS-A tires may not be the best out there, but for taking a BEATING, they work great! The Thing is with the Sport AWD models is to be SURE (unless you dont care) that you order the 402a package which gives you all of the SEL "Goodies" Why this was not standard on this model I still do not know, that is why I ordered mine. They found a 2012 Sport AWD with Remote Start, but it only had a the 401a package..... No Goodies.... No thanks. The lack of EPS steering, and that Crap 6F35 Transmission makes the Sport an even better choice. I can't wait to get out of my SEL. They Flashed the trans twice, then they gave up and replaced it. It still is not 100%, but I just stopped caring.

Jshell757
What are the Specs? Sport AWD? 402A? How are the tires, brakes, alignment, suspension, interior...... ETC.......
Jshell757
Just remember the Sport DOES NOT come standard with the "Goodies" like the SEL, so if you want that, then 402a is what you need to look for, otherwise you have a fast SE model........... LOL!!!!

Jshell757
Just and FYI, all the sports have leather, but unless you get 402a, then they are not heated. Very simple check, does it have Automatic Climate Control? If yes, then you have the 402a package. If not, then you dont.
