I still don't understand why people lower their cars. Imo it makes the cars look ghetto. If you do a full suspension with quality coilovers and you autocross then I understand. But throwing springs on it is just plain stupid. Those rims are absolutely horrible. 5 years from now you are going to look at those pictures and ask yourself "was I on drugs?".

adding shorter springs alone is not the correct way to do it. at a minimum you should add the appropriate length, and strength, shocks/struts as you will destroy the factory set in no time flat. i've lowered many a car in my day and simply changing the springs is definately not the correct way to do it.

You also mention proper length and then say coilovers, using drop springs will give you a more precise length all around instead of coilovers not being perfectly even. Nope i'm 29. About 5 years ago I bought a 2001 Neon r/t that was missing a motor. I bought it to swap an srt-4 engine and full interior into. The kid put springs on the car, and all four struts were blown, and the car rode like crap. I then had to replace the struts, springs, mounts, and also some other suspension work. Lowered cars look ghetto. I would rather have too much wheel gap, and have a car that rides "normal", doesn't blow struts every 5,000 miles, and doesn't scrapes on driveways and pot holes. No offense but I think lowering your car makes it look ghetto. It looks like you blew your struts and are too cheap to have it fixed. The home depot lip isn't helping either lol.

I never said a Fusion should be autocrossed. I think your car looks ghetto lowered, and the rims are an eye sore. The color is terrible and it doesn't fit with your car at all. I'm not a fan of black wheels unless they are snow tires, but that would look much better than construction barrel orange. It's your car and your money so you can do what you want. You asked for comments in your original post so i'm here to give you mine. Many people probably wouldn't like the train horns on my car, but I love them. To each their own.

I wouldnt bragg about buying a neon. My car rides the same as it did when the stock springs were on. I would put money on the fact that your P.O.S neon WILL die long before my fusion will. Not all springs have the same effect on all cars. Your first mistake was buying a R/T when you should have just picked up a SRT. Why not? That car ran 12.9 @ 108 with not very much done to the srt-4 engine that I put in. You obviously can't read very well. I paid $1,600 for the car, and about $3,000 in other things like the engine, trans, and other stuff.

 

I'm not into modifying cars? Lol okay. Maybe you didn't read my post. Let me dig into my photobucket account and see what I have there. (my pictures dont go as far back as when I had a 1996 firefird formula convertible in high school or a few other cars).

 

This is my first srt-4. I bought this car when there were only a few driving around. Nobody had any idea what it was or how fast it was for it's time. I raced a 2002 mustang gt with bolt ons and beat him, so he sold it and bought a 2003 cobra, just because he was beat by a "neon".

 

 

This car went 12.7 @109 with a couple grand invested. What does your sport run? 15 something? Your car looks nice but the performance is lacking in all departments. Your car only looks sporty. Which is fine, but you are acting like your sport is the best car on the planet.

 

I then bought this rice mobile from a kid who destroyed the engine. Look what was done to it? Lowered with springs. The suspension was junk and needed to be replaced.

 

 

 

 

Turned it into this after a couple of months

 

 

I don't have any photos, but I changed the front and back end to the 2003+ bumpers and lights with a mopar lip kit. This had factory srt-4 springs and struts. Nobody ever figured out why it sat lower than a normal srt-4 but I hated it. It rode fine but it scraped on the bottom of my driveway all the time.

 

I drove it for about a year and sold it. The kid that bought it started to rice it out and blew the engine. Its actually for sale right now

You can see the lip kit and the different bumpers. He added all the crap onto it like the green parts and ghetto mods. It was clean when I had it.

 

When I had it, it had a 3" dump exhaust with an electric cutout hooked up to the oem neon exhaust. If you didnt see the intercooler you couldn't tell it had anything done to it. The exhaust was very quiet. That car surprised the hell out of a lot of people. Nothing like beating a a bolt on mustang gt with what looks like a factory neon r/t

 

I then bought a caliber srt-4. Upgraded sway bars, headlight retrofit, stage 1, corsa exhaust, and a few other things. Sold that after a year or so. Cool car but too much torque steer made it not very fun to drive hard.

 

 

Only photo I could find of the car. I see them on the road and miss it. However I couldn't forget all the quirks of it. Parts were expensive or not available. I think the hood is $1,700 alone. My buddy had one and had his car stuck at a dealership for 1-2 months because nobody had a clutch for it. Dodge really dropped the ball with this car, when the neon srt-4 was such a success.

 

My next car was a 2011 Taurus SHO. Got tired of driving such a big car so I got rid of this four months ago.

 

 

 

Livernois stage 4+ tune, upper and lower grills, lockpick, and a few other things (winter wheels and tires in the photo). Never ran it but it should have done 12.9-13.2 in the 1/4 mile.

 

Now I drive this

 

 

2009 sel, 3.0, leather, heated seats, moon roof with only 14,500 miles. I paid $13,900 for it so I couldn't pass it up. Other fusions with similar miles were $16k or more. This has a headlight retrofit, weathertech mats, valentine 1, kenwood in dash navigation (installed a few weeks ago), 12" kicker comp, train horns with 2 gallon air tank, and a few other small things. I actually really like this Fusion. I bought it because i'm moving 750 miles away from family and wanted a cheap car that I can fill up with 87 when I make the drive several times a year. I am getting 30mpg on the highway without really trying too hard. My SHO was lucky to get 25-26 and required premium with the tune.

 

What's next? I am looking into the new ford 1.0l ecoboost engine. I will try to pick up a fiesta when it comes out thats slightly used. I will keep that for my long trips and going around town. Or I will get a focus if they put that engine in it. My next performance car? I have no idea. I have my eye on quite a few different ones. My goal in 3 years is a used Lamborghini Gallardo or a used Audi R8. I love Lamborghinis and I will own one in the near future.

 

Just because you have a fusion sport with black wheels, tint, and springs doesn't make you an expert on anything. I looked at a couple of sports but decided against it. I don't want or need a 3.5 (already had the twin turbo version of it ) but I do like the ground effects. When I find a junked one I am going to pull the parts and put it on my car. I would then have a car that looks exactly like yours, costs a lot less, gets better gas mileage, at the sacrifice of a little horsepower than I don't want or need. Don;t come complaining to me that i'm a grandpa or something. That's just being stupid.
