Full Size tire in spare space in trunk?

Anyone using a full size spare in their trunk? There is a guy locally selling a scarred up stock rim for only $20. Was thinking of picking it up and using it as a FS spare if it will fit in the space in the trunk.

It won't fit - it's wider than the temp spare that's in there now. You could modify the trunk floor to accommodate it but I don't think it's worth the effort personally.

You could always do what ford did on the 12 focus titaniums with the 18's and the handling package. They come with a full size spare, so ford used a foam block to raise the trunk floor, therefor making the spare tire well deeper. There is someone over on ford fusion club that uses a sport 18" wheel for his spare and he built a tray out of wood 2x4's to raise his trunk floor and to mount his amps. Here is a pic of his finished trunk floor

Yes, that is something to think about. I have to 14 Hybrid with 18" rims. I got a spare tire and I need to get a rim for it and shove it into the trunk somehow. Already had a flat, what a minute, is there a jack in the car?

When someone rear ends you and that tire pushes your battery through the rear seat, you might wish you had thought it through a little further.
