mistergreentree
Hi Guys...I'm brand new to the forum and I come bearing a problem! Just bought my wife a 2010 Fusion SE, V6 which she absolutely loves except for one thing. She has the unlock/lock buttons on her key and they don't work. Everytime she unlocks the car she has to race to get the key into the ignition before the alarm triggers. I've had it to the dealer and purchased a new key and it still isn't working. The dealer said that both keys were broadcasting fine, but they couldn't get the buttons programmed to the car. I've tried the programming method of turning the ignition from off to run 8 times...the doors lock/unlock...pressing a button on the key, but it's not working. Both keys will start the car. I've searched all over the internet and am coming up empty so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! (I've asked on another forum and haven't had any success either) (the car was in a front end accident...hood replaced, drivers fender replaced, bumper replaced, steering wheel airbag blown which is not yet replaced...all other electronics and systems seem to be working right) Edited October 19, 2012 by mistergreentree
akirby
Is it the same for both keys or just one? If it's just one key then that fob may just be bad. If it's both then my guess is the radio receiver was damaged or not reconnected. There is an antenna that receives the radio signals from the transmitter but I don't know where it's at. Try using the button in different areas of the car near the dash, under the hood and in the trunk just for grins. Ask the dealer to check the antenna receiver.
mistergreentree
It is the same with both keys. I was thinking the same with the receiver, but have no idea where it's located. I'll try the button all over and see what happens. In the meantime if anyone knows where the receiver is located that would be great. Thanks for the response!
FusionDiffusion
The receiver is part of the Smart Junction Box (SJB), which is up and to the left of the brake pedal. Not sure why the dealer didn't figure that out.
mistergreentree
I'll take a look at it tonight. Thanks a lot for the input. As for the dealer they just kept saying the car was previously wrecked and it could take days to track down the issue. He really didn't want to troubleshoot it. Thanks again for the input! They're just being lazy. I thought it might be in the smart junction box but wasn't sure. Is there an external antenna? If so that might be missing or loose.
FusionDiffusion
Antenna is internal to the SJB I believe. Did you say the power door locks work normally using the buttons on the door?
mistergreentree
Yes the power door locks work normally with the door controls. I looked and everything appears to be connected under there.
