tonifan
Since the Fusion and Lincoln MKZ have been assembled side-by-side at the Hermosillo, Mexico Plant, would if be logical to say that the MKZ would be assembled side-by-side at the Flat Rock Plant? The announcement by Ford that the Fusion would be assembled ONLY in Flat Rock, Michigan brings to mind the question: Will the Lincoln MKZ continue to be assembled in Hermosillo? Any thoughts or news on the subject? Thanks!
akirby
Ford has not announced that the Fusion would ONLY be assembled in Flat Rock. In fact that isn't even feasible because Ford builds the Fusion in Mexico for export to South and Latin America and they could not do that if it was built in the U.S. Fusion will be built in both plants. The question is whether the MKZ remains in both plants or moves to just one. Ford hasn't announced anything yet.
Waldo
Ford would be foolish to build the MKZ in two plants. When you build a low volume product, you only build it in one place. Ford will build the Fusion in both Hermosillo and Flat Rock and the MKZ will only be built in Hermosillo.
LittleJaeger75
I have read that the Flat Rock plant will supply American sales and the Hermosillo will supply all other exports.
akirby
Hermosillo has to provide the exports because a lot of the countries they export to either won't allow U.S. exports or have a tariff. That was part of the reason for putting Fusion there in the first place.
GhostRider
I passed the Flint Rock Assembly Plant a couple of weeks ago and it had a banner on the side of the building about how the Fusion is made here

ctrcbob
The Window Stickers on all the 2013 Fusions I've seen so far, all say Hermosillo. 2.0 Ecoboost Engine made in Spain. Can't remember where the Transmission that goes with the 2.0 Ecoboost is made.
