HenryVIII
Okay I've looked at the VG Sharkfin antenna. While I do like it, it seems awfully bulky, large and makes it seem a bit visually obtrusive . I was wondering if any of you have installed a shorty antenna instead. Thank you!
Titanium_2013
I have not heard of anyone installing as of yet.. At least not posted on here. There is a posting for the Sharkfin on the new Fusions and a few pictures.. It actually didn't look too bad.
JoeLr
I use this one, works great for me--> http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0073X74X8/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 FWIW, I have zero interest in the shark fin. I spent time & effort debadging & I'm not about to willingly stick more double-sided tape to the paint. And the look of the shark fin just doesn't do it for me; guess there's no accounting for aesthetic leanings. This pic gives an idea of what the stubby antenna looks like:

thefoeyouknow
I hope you don't mind losing your satellite radio in the process. The antenna mast is AM/FM, but the base contains both the antenna booster AND the sat radio antenna.

I think you missed what this thread is about entirely. This is about changing the antenna mast to a shorter one, not changing the base to which you are implying. Neither the VG shark-fin antenna nor the shorty antenna change or remove the base. Edited June 5, 2013 by HenryVIII

Here's a couple of photos: Reception is fantastic. No issues at all.
PublicHair
Shark fin looks a lot better. And works great. But hey.. Some people like the remote control car antenna look. It's cute. And lol at the guy who said he didn't want double sided tape on his car again, like it matters. I guess his car is made with real plastic. And held together with real glue. ...anyway sorry for the jokes. Here's mine. Edited November 10, 2013 by PublicHair
PublicHair
Also FYI if you want you can remove your OEM antenna base and condense it down. Of course the black shell is simply a case.. But it's more trouble than its worth. If not held on by tape it's held in by a nut an bolt. Which requires removing the headliner.

Has their been any issues with washing the car or anything as far as the tape holding up?
hermans
I have one on my FFH. They supply the tape. I wash my car twice a week through the car wash and there has not been an issue. It is seriously easy to install. BTW, PublicHair isn't going to provide an answer to you....he has been banned.

Lee Sacco
I just got a 2014 Titanium and the Sirius reception is fair to poor. I have a 2005 Esclade (it has XM) that never loses reception but i can map the spots on my commute to work where i will with the Fusion. Will this Shark antenna improve my reception?

On both cars we have found the reception to be the same as the stock antenna, I don't think it helped things but did not hurt either.
thefoeyouknow
That plastic base IS the sirrius antenna. If you cover it, you're shooting yourself in the foot. Get the stubby antenna.
