IngotSport
Question for any of you that have ever used the SST mode on your shifter: have you ever had problems with it upshifting when pressing "+"? I have had no issues with it downshifting when pressing "-", but upshifting seems to be less than responsive most of the time. Just curious if others have experienced this. This came in handy during our ATL snow/icing to maintain gear (generally 2nd and 3rd) and speed, but when I was ready to upshift, I had to put it back in "D" then back to "M". I'm also wondering if maybe it needs to be cleaned as I'm thinking, as a former rental car, something could have been spilled and maybe seeped in from the top, but seems like it's be the bottom button that would be giving me issues, too. Any ideas on how this may be accomplished? Lastly, anyone know if this would be covered under the powertrain or bumper-to-bumper warranty? I'm past the bumper-to-bumper but still less than 20k from expiring the powertrain (which will be in about a year at my current mileage rate). Thanks in advance for any insights.
akirby
If you can reproduce it then it won't hurt to ask the dealer about it. The shifter itself might not be covered but it could be something else.
andyross
It won't let you upshift if you are going too slow for the gear you are trying to select.
IngotSport
Too slow certainly wasn't the problem; when it's pushing 5000 rpm, it should upshift, I would think...
con_fusion
FWIW - On my 2010 the SST on the stick seems to have a delay. Always had. No matter how quickly I flick it there is just a little pause which I don't think should be there...
IngotSport
When it does respond, I too notice the delay in the upshift, the downshift, however, is pretty immediate as it should.
BlackBetty
Yeah there is a slight delay, it's not a fancy twin clutch auto. It helps if you shift quicker, holding it in the + position seems to increase te delay.
akirby
It only shifts when you release the button, so holding it will cause a delay. Hit it quick and release immediately.
