Keyless entry factory code doesn't display using owner's manual procedure

Hi All,

My 2014 Ford Fusion Titanium has Intelligent Access keyfobs with the push-button start.

I've misplaced the card with my factory keyless entry code, and tried to retrieve the code using the procedure listed on page 59 of my owner's manual, using my 2 keyfobs.

Nothing happens when I follow the instructions.

I've tried lengthening the time between doing each of the key insertion steps as well as shortening it, and I tried inserting the fob in different positions (thinking I was misunderstanding the instructions 'key ring at top, buttons facing the car's rear') -- still, I'm not seeing any message dialog boxes displaying in the displays over the steering wheel or any on the MyFord Touch screen.

Both fobs work -- they'll open the doors and start the car. MyKey status shows 2 admin keys...

I'm thinking that I must be doing something wrong.

Anyone else have ever had this problem?

Thanks!

BM

I locked myself out of my Fusion the first week. My wife and I went to the gym. Her fob was in her handbag and mine was in my vest--both of which we left in the car. I can say with complete confidence that you can't open the door if you are outside the car and your fobs are on the inside. The manual was also in the car, of course. I was more than a bit concerned until I realized that the Dealer had access to that information. Since we had just bought the car, it was fairly easy for me to call and identify myself. They looked up the access number and gave it to me over the phone.

Depending on your dealer, you should be able to get the number either over the phone or in person--but you'll need to be able to prove you are the owner.

I must have been doing something wrong. I gave the owner's manual keycode display instructions one last time, and voila! The code displayed in the display screen to the left of the speedometer. And it works, too. My next step will be to figure out how to save my seat and memory settings.

Thanks for the reply!

That's what I suspected but sometimes if you say that people get all defensive about it.

Also - sometimes a feature isn't available under certain scenarios such as while the vehicle is in motion or if the ignition is on but engine isn't running, etc.

Yup, some people do get defensive. Not me. I assumed either I was doing something wrong, or the system was malfunctioning. Glad it was the former. ;-)

Good point on the available features.

I'll have to read up on this to figure out which buttons. I haven't quite gotten there yet.

It's quite simple. The buttons are on your door panel:

Saving a Pre-Set Position

  • Switch the ignition on.
  • Adjust the seat and exterior mirrors to your desired position.
  • Press and hold the desired pre-set button until you hear a single chime.

That's all there is to it.
