hubanya
Hi everyone, I'm new here. I plan to upgrade the factory radio in my 07 Fusion Se because it does not work now. While installing the new aftermarket head unit, I got a problem with the factory antenna. Attached is a photo of it. I'm completely confused because it does not fit into the antenna adapter for my HU. I bought the aftermarket HU from crutchfield which also sends me an antenna adapter that is supposed to fit my vehicle's factory antenna. I checked with crutchield and they told me the antenna adapter is the "right" one. I bought this car used, and I was told by its previous owner that the factory stereo did not work. When I removed the factory radio, I realized that the car antenna was unplugged! It seemed to me that some modification had been applied to the factory antenna. I'm now really wondering whether the antenna is the original factory one? If not, what kind adapter do I need to use it? The second picture is the antenna adapter that comes with the aftermarket HU from crutchfield. Thanks! akdoggie
Your first picture is the original antenna that someone took the end off of. You should of had that end you are showing (pic 2) originally on your antenna wire, unless you had a base unit head. Then you could of had an old style straight male plug. The second picture is what the CD6,Shaker and Navigation heads use for the antenna. You may have to replace the antenna base with a new one to make it work. I don't think that you can buy a male plug separate and put back on. I just joined this forum, but have been active in Mustang and F150 forums all over, and have come across this very situation in the Mustangs. They come with the Chrysler style antenna (picture 2). CRB20 is one number for the male into female and to Chrysler style end. It is available from Schoche. Metra makes one also, but I don't have that number available. You might try the Metra ecatalog and see if you can find a piece to replace what has been removed from yours. Good luck.
