Navi Owners in Cold Areas Of Country. Display Dim

Because I live mostly in Florida, I never really noticed this before, however I just returned from a trip to New Mexico and some mornings, the temperature was down around 20F.

I noticed that the Navigation/Radio Display was very dim until the inside of the car warmed up. Once warmed up, the display is normal.

This morning, the temp was about 50F here at my home in Florida. Display was slightly dim for a very short time until car warmed up.

Anyone in cold areas find the same thing?

Here in the CA central valley, it gets down to 30 at night, and mine has the same issue. It's because the display is using a CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamp) for backlighting (same thing most LCD screens use). When the phosphors inside the lamp are cold, they don't light up nearly as bright and might have a slight red/pink tint. That's also why compact fluorescent lamps are not recommended for cold temps, like the fridge.

I remember seeing a blurb in the owner's manual about it, but I can't recall exactly where it was.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Automotive LCDs are designed to be pretty tough.
