flowrefinnej
Glad I found this. Am on second set of wheels and they are now peeling too. Talked to dealership and they took pictures. Haven't heard back from them yet. But from the looks of this they will not be replaced yet. I can't believe this has been a problem for so long and they knowingly sold these problem wheels.
akirby
Yeah, I don't understand why they kept selling new ones when they knew they were defective. Maybe they didn't sell enough for the volume to show up on reports until recently.
Dmaz
No updates from ford yet? They said they would be doing something in the third quarter.
darkone2014
UPDATE Contacted dealer on 7/15/15 They said they stopped replacing the wheels a couple months prior. Ford is supposed to be sending out a letter on or around 8/10/15 laying out the fix for this issue. No details as to what that is. All I know is that I am on my second full set and not happy because they are peeling again.
Rcguy76
I have already had my rims replaced once due to peeling, Ford called me two days ago with two options. Same time but with just a plain clear coat and second is five spoke with black inlay
Frencheeey
I work at a dealership and I just found out that Ford has issued a recall on the 18 inch black spoked wheels. You get to choose between two styles. 20 spoke or 5 spoke. I've already put a kit on order for minw. I just had them replaced under warranty a few months back. These new wheels have a different appearance I belilive.
darkone2014
Did you get any pictures of the new options?

darkone2014
20150727135128.pdf These are the wheel choices. Sorry not in color but gives an accurate description.
fordfusionblack
I called my local dealer they have said the same thing 20 or 5 spoke. They said they could give a printout of the new wheels in I stop in. They don't have any at the dealership right now. I found these 2016 listings online. These MIGHT be the new wheels in color: 20 Spoke http://www.jimhudsonfordlexington.com/detail-2016-ford-fusion-4dr_sedan_se_fwd-new-13712424.html 5 Spoke http://www.jimhudsonfordlexington.com/detail-2016-ford-fusion-4dr_sedan_se_fwd-new-13750356.html
akirby
How would black wheels look differently in color vs. black and white?
notasoccermom
I'm just glad I'm going to be able to get black ones again--hopefully they have permanently fixed the problem! I have a pearl white Fusion with the black wheels, and I don't like how the aluminum colored ones look with pearl white. I was going to raise a big stink if they didn't replace with black!
fordfusionblack
I stopped in my dealer yesterday and ordered the 20 spoke. Same wheel (18s) with a different finish. Just gloss black instead of the shiny/chrome clearcoat finish. Dealer estimates each wheel at $1000.
Fusion_Phil
I have it on good authority that a recall will be out on those wheels in next few days and you will get a choice of 2 good looking alternatives. 1 will be very similar and the other will be a 5 spoke pattern black with machined fronts
darkone2014
New 5 spoke wheels this is one of two choices you get for Ford's replacement of the chrome black wheels.
drolds1
Those are really nice! I'd like them on my MKZ instead of what I've got. Now you have to paint your calipers.
theoryflow
Darkone, I just ordered the 5 spoke as well. I'm glad Ford is doing something but wasn't very impressed that they couldn't show me a picture of what they look like in reality. All I got to see what a b/w printout and a pic from their parts ordering screen which shows the shape but not the finished colour/gloss etc. I'm quite fond of the ones that are getting replaced but hey, the 5-spoke look sexy and I figured might as well take a chance.

akirby
I have it on good authority there will be a recall on those wheels Recalls are for safety issues. Do you mean the old wheels or the new replacements?
Fusion_Phil
replacement wheels either black 20 spoke similar to original or black with machine front dual 5 spoke similar to an 18" version of what is on the focus
Kendra King
Just got my new set last week. (20 spoke) this is my 2nd replacement set. They look identical to the old 20 spoke in physical form but they are only a glossy black instead of having the chrome iridescent like coat the old ones had that of course was peeling off. My husband says it looks like a powder coat. Since we powder coat or racecar frames and it seems to hold up well on there I'm hoping it will on the wheels too. They look good IMO. Just wish we didn't have to have them replaced in the first place, but hopefully that's all over with
MarlyMarl718
They also have the 5 spoke in all black.Seen it on a 2016 Fusion.
Daylight75
My wife's '14 Fusion has the black alloy wheels. I haven't noticed any chipping on them, but she ran off the road the other day after a storm trying to avoid a large branch that had fallen. Her passenger side ended up in a rut off the road and as a result she needs 2 new wheels. The dealership tried ordering new wheels but couldn't (I guess because of the recalls) and they said it may take a few months to get them in. I really find this hard to believe if they're recalling the damn wheels anyway there must be a pile of them somewhere, right? She's had a rental now for over a week (this dealership doesn't do loaners but wtf, if they're holding her car hostage for a few months it's the least they could do?) For those that have gotten the 2 alternative replacements, where they covered under warranty or did you have to pay for them?
