2012 Fusion EMTC Module

Greetings,

My 2012 Fusion S started blowing hot air while the A/C was on about a month ago. The hot air blew for 10 minutes, then it started blowing cold air again. This happened again 3 weeks later, and it would not blow cold air for a day or two, then it started working again. I took my Fusion in for regular service and had them check the A/C, and this is the report from the dealership:

"Customer states A/C blows cold, but will randomly cut off at times. Verified concern. Perf EEC test, no DTC's stored. Perf EMTC diag.

Found internal fault in EMTC module."

The estimate for repair was $600, which i declined at the time. I have been unable to find information on an EMTC module online - is this the proper name, or is there another name for it? Also, is this a part replacement which an owner can perform, or must the replacement be done by a mechanic?

Thank you.

EMTC= Electronic Manual Temperature Control, as opposed to EATC, or electronic automatic temp. control. Although the controls in your car are manual, the commands go to an electronic module. I don't see any readily available online. IDK if it has to be programmed to the individual car. A shop manual would help.

Hi scaramanga19,

If you decide to have the repair done at your dealer, please let me know so I can check out some options. What's your current mileage?
