hub-fusion
does anyone know if this is an issue with the LiPo packs as well? starting in 2013+ they started using a LiPo battery...
lolder
We've not heard of it past 2012. The 2013+ FFHs are a completely different car with different problems mostly faulty transmissions.

MyDadsFusion
Looking to try this out on my wife's 2010 Fusion. Signed up for a FORScan Forum account but have to wait until it is approved. Anyone know how long that takes? Also, is this fix just for low battery performance? What happened with my wife's car is she said dash was going haywire in the morning, but then 10 minutes later started up fine. Check engine came on so she dropped it off at mechanic. They said 12V was bad and replaced. When she picked it up she drove it for about a block and triangle 'Stop and pull over safely' Warning came on. Mechanics came and drove it back (in limp mode?) and said it was the HEV and to take it to the dealer. I'm hoping this fix will resolve. My work around is by modifying the battery based on my usage. I keep it at 7 year status typically. When I plan to take a longer drive (80+ mph for 10+ minutes) I put it back to 10/11 year status so the battery doesn't overwork itself. I'd like to understand that. Thanks! All of the OBD error codes I got from high speeds for long durations were different parts of the car loosing power. These cause the red triangle to appear. I have no idea technically what causes it, but it seems to be something with the battery expecting to be outputting more power than it can. 20 minutes ago, wessal said: I am south of Albany NY I can go any where you are just let me know what part of the state you are in. JAlexS
New to the site. Wanted to give a big thank you to Allen84. I bought a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid with only 88,500 miles about 2 weeks ago. The previous owner said that he averaged 33-35mph city which I thought was low for a Hybrid driving around in the city. I had already found this thread when researching common issues with these cars. The guy was selling the car for a good deal so I figured it was worth a shot fixing the mpg issue myself with the help of this thread. I think I averaged 36mpg all hwy from the 100 mile drive back from picking up the car. I didn't drive the car much before my OBD came in the mail a couple days later (spent the first day cleaning the interior). I followed Allen's instructions and on my drive to WalMart and the DMV I averaged 40 mpg with AC and music blasting on a 90 degree Florida day with high humidity. I figured I'll have a different experience than most of you guys when winter rolls around and I'll get better mpg since it typically stays in the 70's maybe high 60's here in FL during "winter" months. I ordered spark plugs, spark plug boots, trans oil, and picked up a gallon of my favorite oil with a motorcraft filter. Once those come in, I'll be doing the tune up myself. I own a 700hp 2003 Mustang Cobra that my brother and myself do our own work on so turning a wrench on these simple maintenance procedures is pretty easy. One thing I noticed that another member also mentioned but no one answered. When I went to the "Config Battery Age" to reset the age of the battery to Year 1 mine didn't have the "Incorrect Value or Not Configured" between year 9 and year 10 like Allen, mine said the between year 1 and year 2: I didn't want to select year 1 so I just reset it to year 2. Not sure if doing this would cause any issues. Anyway, the car is currently running fine with no issues and I hope it stays that way for years to come.
asicking
JAlexs, I have 369K miles on my 2010 FFH. It has been 412 days and almost 57K miles since I applied “the fix”. My mpg over those miles is 42.2. During extreme heat or cold it dips to 37 to 40, and during spring and autumn it ranges from 41 to 48. I’m thinking of replacing it eventually with another, hopefully with around 100K miles.

It will never say correct unless it's exactly on a year mark.

So it doesn't matter if the error was between year's 1 and 2 rather than Allen's example of 9 and 10?

Sanj
Hello everyone, I am from Canada GTA and recently got a used car the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid with 104K on it from a used car dealer (not a great experience so for) I have noticed the same issue most of you have experienced, the EV mode is not working ( I don't have proper setup to fix it, gave a call to the dealer they doesn't know anything about it). In addition, the SYNC system does not work it does not show option of Connecting..... to device at all, I tried pulling out the fuse and checked it and got in back still it does not work. The driver heated seat does not work the lights on switch stays on for only 3-5 secs. All i got from the dealer is a small remote start key i tried using it the, then car goes into panic mode i only got 1 standard key. I see so many people with good experience with cars in the group and I am fairly new to 4 wheels. Any leads with these issues how to fix them would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
lolder
There is a Ford dealer fix to the EV restoration. Used car dealers cant do it. Make sure you read all the manuals twice, the Owners Guide and Quick Reference guide. They are probably available on line. That may help you with the Sync and seat heater.
Sanj
Thankyou for the reply and suggestions, I mean to say i got the car is from the used car dealer and i made an enquiry about EV issue with nearest Ford dealer. And they said they did not know anything about it.

Forscan is a Russian website, so it's administrators are in the Russian timezone. It's 2 in the morning, give them some time to approve you.

CaptainAwesome
Thank you Allen, you just saved me from owing a lot of money to some bad people! I asked my local Ford dealer about the service bulletin and they insisted they would not do any undiagnosed work. So they would need to an hour to run diagnostics, then another hour of repair time. They quoted me $225 + tax just to load some software. I'm not too tech savvy with cars, but I do know computers and I'm not sure why they couldn't just load the software patch, regardless of whether they felt it was needed - it isn't as if Ford was going to give them a patch that would break the car (although some conspiracy theorists might disagree)! Anyway, I bought the Veepeak scanner last week for $17.99 (since it had a $2 coupon), used an old Windows XP laptop I had lying around from my college days, and had it fixed in about 30 minutes. It would have gone quicker, but it took me a while to find the driver to install the scanner on my laptop. If anyone is looking for that driver, it is available here: https://www.veepeak.com/product/obdcheck-ms/ So, for the cost of less than the tax I would have paid on $225, I have a fixed car. The weather has been cold, so the mpg numbers have not been stellar, but I definitely have noticed a difference with it switching over to the battery and staying there for longer periods when I'm driving around town. I can't wait until next summer for my mpg to spike again!
