bangster
First thing I suggest is actually figuring out the MPG and not just how many miles you drive on an unknown quantity of fuel. So...you have a FWD Fusion, that is 16.5 gallons. Usually you would take the number gallons you put in it when you fill up, and divide that into the miles you drove. So 311 miles and 14 gallons (just guessing, since you just say the miles, and not how many gallons). That is 22 mpg highway (17 city). The cluster also can show you average fuel economy (I reset them all when I fill up, I go to the view that shows all of TRIP 1 and clear them). EPA says: 2.5 - 21 city 32 highway I would guess it is driving style or environment that makes your likely mileage lower than the EPA estimate. Lots of hills, traffic that makes you inconsistently speed up and slow down, driving over 80 mph, windy conditions, lots of things. You can display the "Instant Fuel Economy" on your dash and watch what it is and how it is affected by constant speed, hills, speeding up, etc. There are 3 different possible gauge configurations so it varies as to what it shows and where, my 2015 Fusion is very similar to my 2017 Escape. There are some maintenance items that can affect it. No idea how many miles you have on it, but if close to end of life for spark plugs the mileage dips. Air filter. eGuru
Don't forget that the figures than bangster is quoting is based on US gallons and not Imperial gallons when you do your conversion. Since you are not in the US Liberia, or Myanmar it is probably best to use the setup function to display KM and the calculated fuel economy in L/100km.

eGuru
The octane rating won't make a difference in fuel economy on the 2.5L. The special 95 is more than adequate.
