brothergc
I have seen a lot of issues with fords transmissions . And I just had one in my shop a 2014 focus with transmission shudder that I recommended to the dealer because of all the TSB that ford had out. So seeing that I just bought a new 2020 Ford fusion S last February at My local dealer , it got Me wondering , which transmission did Ford put in Mine ? ( model number ) How can I find out ? I know my VIN . Also any suggestions as to maintenance on these transmissions ?
andyross
I believe all the 4-cylinder cars use the 6F35. The V6 Sport uses a heavier version, and the hybrid has a CVT.
bbf2530
Hi brothergc. It makes it easier for others to assist if all questions, answers and information are located in one place. Since you have the same question posted in another thread, this one will be locked. As far as transmission maintenance questions: The Ford recommend transmission maintenance is to flush and refill the transmission fluid every 150,000 miles. Most knowledgeable owners will advise you to do it every 50,000 miles or so. Some will say 30,000 miles. Others ~75,000 miles...etc. You get the picture. Decide what you and your wallet are comfortable with. I would definitely recommend not waiting longer than 100,000 miles. Whenever you decide to do it, be sure to use the proper specification fluid. Those maintenance requirements and specifications are also located in the Owners Manual. Good luck.
