mf150
When I need to replace my tires, can I take the car to any tires shop or do I need to get to a ford dealship for a complete pCM/ecu reflash? LMAO (kidding) After reading some stuff here about the TPMS and valve stems, etc, what is needed when I replace my tires? Help, I'm in the twighlight zone. My 2003 Premium Mustang GT was cake to work on...I don't even know how to lift this Fusion on jackstands! noob help needed Edited May 17, 2011 by mf150

The TPMS sensors/system will remember their previous programming. Also, on a side note: Any competent tire shop should be aware of this information. If the one you use for new tires knows it, that is a good sign. If they don't, or they try to charge you for reprogramming the TPMS system, you might want to think about finding another shop. Good luck. :beerchug:

The two options as I see it are: 1) replace the OEM steel wheels w/ caps with 2011 SE alloy wheels. The problem with this is I don't know what I need (new TPMS sensors in addition to the new wheels or just a reset via the steeda tool ?). I also hear that Ford wants mega $$$ ($460 each) for the OEM 10 spoke aluminum 2011 Fusion wheels. The OEM 2003 Premium Mustang GT wheels (bullits) were only $139 each. What is going on!?!?! lol So, what would I need to replace the wheels in addition to the tires? Can I just reflash the oem TPMSs? ALso the 10 spoke 17" wheels are 17x 7.5 (rather than my stock steel wheels at 17x 7"). Will this fit okay on my current set-up? OR 2) just replace the tires with a new set of michellins... Option #2 seems much easier and less expensive. I don't think I would want to go aftermarket rims. Want to keep the car looking stock. Just want to upgrade to an ford alloy wheel and ditch the glorified hubcaps. Edited May 18, 2011 by mf150
fusionff
You can pick up the 10 spoke OEM wheels for a LOT less money on Ebay, they are usually around $800-$1100 for the wheels and tires. You can also search craigslist, They are always popping up at either site. You'd be nuts to pick up the wheels from the dealer. The 17 x 7.5 (or 18X 7.5) will fit on your Fusion perfectly. Any OEM Fusion wheel from 2006-2011 will fit. Here is a set of 17" on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300535017518&viewitem=&clk_rvr_id=233140312821 Here is a set of Fusion Sport wheels on Ebay. These are the same wheels that I have also. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300551370952&viewitem=&clk_rvr_id=233135243125 Fusion SAP wheels on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300558167622&viewitem=&clk_rvr_id=233126794699 These set come and go regularly, just keep looking until you find a set that you like. Thanks for your response. Did you buy your wheels through that ebay seller? Are they legit? Also when replacing the wheels, I assume I will need to reset my TPMS Also will the oem lug nuts work with the new wheels, or do I have to invest in a new set? fusionff
Thanks for your response. Did you buy your wheels through that ebay seller? Are they legit? Also when replacing the wheels, I assume I will need to reset my TPMS Also will the oem lug nuts work with the new wheels, or do I have to invest in a new set? I found my wheels on craigslist, so I have no idea about the sellers. I just did a quick search and those sets came up, there is always some available. TPMS wasn't available (thankfully) when I got my Fusion in 2007. I'm not sure if I have the sensors installed in the wheels, if I do, I'll be able to sell them when I replace the tires. I'm not sure about the whole sensor thing, but I know they sell a tool to reset them yourself, or a tire shop can switch yours over to the new set. You can use the same lugs, nothing to buy there. I'm using the original lugs myself.
