Normal?

Got a brand new sport, had a couple questions...

1) Yesterday I saw (on the left side of the steering column, when the top and bottom plastic pieces meet), it seemed there was a bit of oil or grease on the plastic, and also appeared to be some oil/grease around the socket of the turn signal. Is this normal? Note: it's more of a clear oil, but not really dripping, just kind of a light stain on the plastic where the two pieces meet.

2) When turning off the A/C or Air, I hear a slight noise coming from front passenger floor area...almost like a plastic "door" closing. Is this normal?

Thanks for the help ladies & gents

1) I wouldn't worry about the oil. Someone (either the dealer or the factory) was probably in a hurry and put too much oil on the stalk while prepping the car. Just wipe off the excess with some soap and water or else use a little rubbing alcohol.

2) The mechanical noises are completely normal when operating the climate controls. You are hearing the motors open and close the vent and blend doors that control the air source and the temperature. The climate system is located behind the glove compartment as you've discerned. When you turn the system off (or push the recirculate button or Max AC) the vent door will close, sealing the system from the outside.
