EPAS?

Why not?

EPAS can get you better fuel economy, better parking efforts while giving the same steering feel as conventional hydraulic systems at higher speeds. Plus you get extra features like Active Nibble Control, torque steer mitigation and drift/pull compensation (though the current Fusion doesn't have all of those yet).

Unfortunately the EPAS motor needs to go right where the exhaust runs on the 3.5L engine.

I just know that on alot of the fusion advertisements for 2011 it said with EPAS but i didn't know the sports were excluded.

In an ideal world maybe. I had a 2010 Milan premier V6 as a loaner. I hated the EPAS. It was completely devoid of road feel and was too light for me. I'm not enamored with the steering feel in the MKZ either (can't hold a candle to the LS ;), but I'll take it any day over the EPAS I experienced. It needs tweaking, IMO.

Hi. I addressed this issue already in this thread:

http://www.fordfusionforum.com/index.php?/topic/6622-electric-power-steering-for-2012-sport/

The reason the SPORT model DOESN'T have EPAS is because the 3.5L V6 in our cars comes from the MKZ. That motor only has the hydraulic power steering at this time. With the redesigns coming for Fusion and MKZ I'm sure that EPAS will be added to the new motors. However your 2011 and my 2012 still have old school steering.

Incidentally, the hydraulic steering provides more feedback than the EPAS. Considering that our cars are tuned for performance over fuel efficiency this is the tradeoff we make.

IT may be "Old School" but it works great. I have and SEL with EPAS and I HATE IT!!! Drove Several MKZ's around and all of them have much better road feel and feedback. EPAS is the future, but it has some tweaking to get it right.
