eGuru
Pulling fuse F10 (5A) in the BCM (under the dash) will disable the keypad. Let us know if that stops the trunk from opening randomly.
jwd
I will get this pulled and keep you informed...many thanks !
jwd
since last Wednesday.....we had inclement weather for a couple of days with no trunk opening.....then the sun came out and it opened like "clockwork"....it has now been 2 SUNNY and very warm days without the fuse in place and thus far it has NOT opened. I will keep you appraised / updated in about a weeks time !
fuzzy62
2018 same problem with trunk on sunny day. I put black electric tape on the keypad that I never use. Will report back any results. Note-found mech switch on the spot next to the licence lite bulb on my model SE. Lost many circuits boards with nicad battery's . There are some YouTube videos on hidden features that show how to get Engineer Mode by holding left Ok button white starting the car and Service mode for the electric brake. fuzzy62
2018 fusion se -had the same trouble with trunk(sunny day).I placed black eletric tape over the keypad that is rarely used. Found a trunk switch next to license lite bulb. On 10/22/2018 at 5:23 PM, jwd said: eGuru..still concerning the trunk opening issue......a long study of this aggravation has shown that I can almost set a clock to when it will open....always between 3-4:30 PM and only when the late afternoon sun is beating down on the keypad numbers on the drivers door frame. When I park in the opposite direction...the trunk is not opening. Could there be a correlation between heat, sun light, or whatever on that keypad? Can you disconnect the keypad inside the frame or where ever? A long shot I know, but after messing with it for over a year, the only constants are the time of day, and the position of the late afternoon sun in the carport. ( NOT a closed garage) any thoughts????? Thanks !
jwd
I pulled the fuse under the dash #10 for the remote keypad as eGuru suggested and have had no issues since then of the trunk opening on its own.

fuzzy62
Put a small length of black electric tape on the driver door led display to stop sun lite from sending an error message to the body control module. No more trunk problems on my 2018 Fusion .Problem is only when the car is parked in strong sun lite. PS-on another issue i found that if i keep my fob in my left side pants pocket and press the door lock the horn does not honk twice when i exit the car.
confused ford owner
special feature on most fusions. when your about to have a flat tire the trunk opens anticipating your need to access the spare tire.

jrm444
Did anyone figure this out? We started having the same problem on our 2014 Ford Fusion Titanium SE. I tried removing dashboard fuse F10, as eGuru suggsted. It did disable the keypad, but the problem still persists. Even with the trunk open, you can still hear the latch trying to fire/release. How can I make it stop!

eGuru
When the problem occurs, unplug the connector for the dash trunk release switch. If it continues with the switch disconnect it could be a bad trunk release relay in the BCM or the BCM electronics. Have you tried moving ALL your fobs out of range when this happens? Let us know what you find.

Yes, we removed the batteries from both of the fobs, and it still happened. Quote When the problem occurs, unplug the connector for the dash trunk release switch. I am open to trying that. How exactly do I do that? I am no mechanic, but not afraid to try things. I have done many simple repairs on my cars, with the help of my good friend YouTube (I am a very visual learner).
jwd
Ford Fusion trunk opening......mine is a 2013..after many trips to the dealer....and messing with the fobs...I noticed a pattern of when the trunk would open on its own. Daytime in hot weather facing the sun! Sure enough by parking the car so as to block the sun..no more random openings. It was the numerical # pad on the drivers door....I removed the fuse that went to that function (ONLY) and the trunk has behaved ever since...a couple of years now. I tried the same thing, and that still didn't stop it from happening. We no longer have a numerical keypad on the door, but it sill makes no difference. So, to all the people who had this problem and weren't able to get it fixed, what did you do? Just bungee cord the trunk shut? If we cannot solve it, I have to try to come up with some "workarounds". My daughter is supposed to have her driver's test in this car next week. Its at 4:00 in the afternoon. Things could get interesting...
jwd
As a "test", I had disconnected the trunk latch wires at the trunk......then tied a cord to the emergency release handle and threaded it up to the back seat area. A pain for sure, but it worked till I figured out the fuse issue for my specific car. The dealer tried to sell me fobs and computer stuff, however I had read right here that none of that had worked for anyone. One other possibility is that the truck must be closed "properly" for the sensor in the latch to work correctly..IE..make sure it is properly lined up when you close the trunk...Good Luck !
bbf2530
Hi guys. The "Welcome" sub-forum is for new member introductions. Therefore, although this is an old thread, it is now active again and will be moved to the "Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks and Remote Start" sub-forum. Good luck.
