New battery, result in wrench light, battery light, engine light

Recommended Posts

I put a new battery in my 08 Ford Fusion and have had nothing but problems since. After putting in the new battery, the engine light and wrench light came on, and my car had a hard time starting. When it did start, the rpms would not move and I would push the gas and it wouldn't do anything. I read so many posts about throttle bodies and issues that cost lots of bucks.I finally found a post about turning on the car, just till all the lights came on, for 30 seconds, then start the car, and it worked. Thank Godness for that post! The wrench light went away, my car started right up, and it ran fine. However, I was left with the engine light and battery light on. They will not turn off. Also, my radio is dead. No time, no lights, dead! I'm most concerned with the engine light and battery light. Any suggestions on how to get these to turn off, or what could still be causing them to be on? I think it's crap that all this happened with just changing the battery. Very thankful I found this site, and a post to get my car running, but there is obviously still a problem, if these two lights won't go away, right? Please help!! I can live without the radio, but would welcome suggestions on getting that to work as well. :)

But the car was fine till I replaced the battery. The wrench light is gone, the car needed to be reset after I put in the new battery. Drove last night, and it was fine. Was driving down the freeway today, and car completely died, everything went to 0, the rpms, gas gage, temperature, lights went out, didnt' even know what speed I was going. Was trying to make it off the freeway, but it ended up dying completely. After a jump it was fine, then died again. Had to have it towed off the freeway. Gonna see if it's the battery, which seems to be fine, it's just not making it to the car like it should. Just think it's crap that all this is happening because I replaced the damn battery. This never happened with my Chevy Malibu =(
