_10581
Ive been thinking about the idea of blacking out my grill. I see it a lot, but never saw it on a red one like mine. I think it would go well with my wheels. Opinions? Any photoshop wizards want to give it a shot?
PublicHair
Should never base a color mod on the wheels.. And painting black will look cheap. Like work trucks with black bumpers and grilles. Cheap cheap cheap. I think your car looks fine the way it is.
AndyT
I would have to agree with the above post. Try body color. I think that would look really good...
Gen6
Why would you want to cover that beautiful chrome?!? That's an awesome "ka-chow!" off the grill in the bottom shot!
Krisverde
You can always plastidip it. That way if you don't like it you can peel it off. My chrome is all pitted from the car being on the road so much, so i've been thinking about using black or anthracite. My car is the same color as yours.
PublicHair
I personally want to find a shop to turn my chrome into dark chrome. Edited December 8, 2013 by PublicHair
AndyT
I bet the silver would look good with the dark chrome. What kind of process would it be to convert the existing to dark? Anyone have any idea?
PublicHair
I think it’s pretty much a black flake? Half black flake and half chrome to give the appearance of dark chrome. This guy paid $434 to have his chrome darkened. I’m also debating on getting these headlights. I like the white DRL feature.. and they look fairly OEM
AndyT
I do like those headlights too! Would we have to have the DRLs activated at the dealership, or is this something internal with the headlamp that kicks them on? Have a link for them? As for the chrome, I'm assuming the $434 is the cheaper way out, rather than ordering a Sport grille from Ford? PublicHair
Is the sport grille dark chrome? I thought it was normal.. or color matched. And those lights are on ebay all day. About $250. For DRL your local dealer can activate them or you can simply hook up a relay up to your headlights. I retrofitted my headlights with HIDs so I stay away from DRL for the low beams, keeps the hours off the bulbs. But the LED strip is nice. Those headlights are also avail in black as well.
AndyT
As for the LED strips, it looks like they come on with the parking lamps in the installation video. I guess I don't mind that. I would rather them be a "key on" feature though, like a true DRL.
PublicHair
It’s all in how you wire them up. As long as they have a 12v source they don’t care where they are tapped into.
Generick
I think it would look great in Black... I did mine and I love it. I used Plasti-Dip. It was easy and I plan on lining the brake lights next. Edited December 14, 2013 by Generick
Twizzy228
It's not black, but this should give you an idea. Anthracite plasti dip. I did it accidentally when doing my wheels. I meant to be doing the grill black but mixed up my cans and stuck with it. I recently pulled it all off and will be doing the grill black this time.

Twizzy228
Thanks! Unfortunately, it's now back to stock and will be for a while thanks to this lovely Illinois winter weather.
rpaz61
Twizzy - good looking Fusion! I wanted to share with what a friend did to his front grill and chrome accents on his 2010 Sport using BASF paint - code M1621A: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tynephoto/8080844433/ http://www.fordfusionclub.com/showthread.php?t=398494&highlight=basf I also noticed that you're in the same state as me. Where abouts are you from?
durasel
Here's what I did to my grille:
ZSroka
Don't listen to people saying it looks cheap, I hate the chrome, I had my fusion grill plastidipped black last summer and absolutely loved it, chrome shaving blades for a grill look ridiculous. I personally want mine painted gloss black instead of the matte, chrome, or black chrome. I'm looking into getting in done in the spring. I've seen the gloss black grill on gloss black fusions and it looks beautiful.
Nick Engler
Hello, so I have a pearl white 2011 ford fusion sport and due to the Winter michigan has suffered my car has as well. The grill started bubbling and chipping the vinyl that's a layer on top of the chrome. I bought this car used so I'm not sure if that's from the manufacturer or not but when I called ford to see if they would replace it they were quick to say no even after only owning the car for 5 months. So now I'm here and I'm looking for some ideas or to be pointed in the right direction cause the way it looks now isn't pretty and this is fairly upsetting to me. Anyways I appreciate any support you guys can help me with. Thanks in advance Edited February 21, 2014 by Nick Engler

wilkinda65
Black chrome or body color !!
TheMurph
I would have to disagree with the people saying it looks cheap. I, too, have plasti dipped all the chrome on my black car to black. I think it looks fantastic. The best part is, if you don't like it you can peel it off. It's inexpensive and easy to do. You really don't have much to lose.
