So my lease is almost up on my 2012 fusion sport (about 3 months left) and I was thinking whether its a real big upgrade to go from the sport to a new titanium. Do you guys think the new Fusion is as fun as the old sport? Also my payment on a new fusion is going to go up $60 (both the sport and titanium are fully loaded) for a 2014. Im not sure whether the new fusion is worth extra $60 and im not sure whether to just give up my sport now or just wait the 3 months. I really enjoyed my sport, it was a real fun car to have. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

Presumably they're offering you some kind of "pull-ahead" lease deal. Are they going to pay your last three payments? Otherwise, why would you you end your current lease early? Incentives change every month. I'd wait.

I haven't driven a Fusion Titanium but I did have the use of a 2013 MKZ 2.0 EB for 24 hours and I wasn't happy with its performance as compared to my 3.5 MKZ. Even though the 2.0 develops more torque than the 3.5, I wasn't feeling it. I didn't like some other characteristics of the engine either.

I drove a used 2013 Fusion SE with the 2.0 and was reasonably impressed. The new Ford engines are much better than the turbocharged cars I've owned in the past (i.e. a T-Bird TurboCoupe and a Saab Turbo), but I expected significant improvements over powerplants designed decades ago. Are you just asking whether we think you should end your lease early? Is it a foregone conclusion that you'll get a 2014 sooner or later? Or, are you trying to decide whether to keep your Sport after the lease is over?

FWIW, after looking at a couple of used 2013 Fusions, I ended up buying a CPO 2012 Fusion Sport.

Ford offers early termination. They wave your last 3 payments and put you into a new lease. Pretty sweet deal, but in this case my payment is going to go up $60 just cause the new Fusion is more expensive. Equipment wise its gonna be exact to my sport.

Also im just wondering whether its worth going from the sport to a 2014. There are other cars that interest me (accord and regal gs), but im giving ford preference. Im going to the dealer tomorrow to work on numbers and bring it home and drive it a little bit more.

Everyone like the newer model. that being said i am sure the performance in negligable with the titanium getting much better MPGs.

Don't count on better MPG (no s - MPG is already plural - Miles Per Gallon). It's possible but you really have to work at it to keep the 2.0LEB at max fuel economy.

I average in the 25 MPG range with mixed driving, but it's 23 or under in the city, usually under. Mine's the SE with the 2.0, and it's rated for 22 in the city and 33 on the highway. I rarely get those numbers in pure city or highway driving. And if you drive in any sort of spirited fashion, you're looking at 20 MPG at best, and really under 25 on the highway if you're hitting the gas a lot. It's not really an economy car when you drive it hard.

The good news is it encourages easy driving until you need it to be spirited. It's an easy car to drive modestly. I wouldn't say it's the best of both worlds, but it seems to me to be a really good compromise. The more I learn the car, the more I'm finding that driving it reasonably most of the time, and using the power available to get out in traffic or merge, is a good way to go. My Camry did better on the interstate -- it topped 30 MPG easily, whereas the Fusion struggles to get to that magic 30 and I don't think I've ever seen 33 MPG, but since I don't drive on the freeway at speed much (stop and go here in Atlanta), that doesn't matter as much to me. In every day driving, it does about as well as the V6 Camry, and it's a much easier car to drive in terms of tapping the power when you need it and leaving it be when you don't.

My commute is about 12 miles with a lot of traffic and if I drive carefully I can usually avg 20 or so. If there's no traffic I can get 26 easily. If I get on it a few times it goes down to 17. It's really throttle sensitive and you have to coast a lot by taking your foot off the gas completely so the fuel cutoff kicks in.

It does give you the best of both worlds if you drive it accordingly. The other day I chirped the tires from a 15 mph rolling start after some idiot in front of me got out of my way. Atlanta drivers can be so stupid and it drives me crazy.

The buyout for my sport was $23,448.69 and around 22K if I waited 3 more months. It just hit 18000 miles yesterday. Im well under my 12K a year mileage. Yea it did have the 402A and also the navigation system.
