robertlane
In case you missed the introduction of the KIA K900, it's 5.0L DOHC, all aluminum, direct injection 420 horsepower engine mated an an eight speed transmission. It sits on a 119.9" wheelbase, offering wheel rear drive performance. Not to mention that it looks pretty nice too. I'd love to see a Fusion ST do battle against something like this: Give me an AWD Fusion EcoBoost, please! drolds1
I think you meant a119.9" wheelbase, Robert, unless there's a stretch limo version.
cbdallas
I would think, due to it's size that this would fall more within Taurus SHO territory. Although I do like the prospect of the upcoming 2.3 Ecoboost being dropped into a Fusion.
Waldo
In case you missed it, this is just a Kia version of the Hyundai Genesis that has been out for 3-4 years now. The Ford Taurus outsells it by a huge margin.
robertlane
I think you meant a119.9" wheelbase, Robert, unless there's a stretch limo version. DOH - corrected! I would think, due to it's size that this would fall more within Taurus SHO territory. Although I do like the prospect of the upcoming 2.3 Ecoboost being dropped into a Fusion. I would love to see a 2.3L in a Fusion ST, but I thought that only the Lincoln MKC was getting it. . .than I read that the Mustang was too. In case you missed it, this is just a Kia version of the Hyundai Genesis that has been out for 3-4 years now. The Ford Taurus outsells it by a huge margin. I did miss that. Thanks for point that out. Is the Fusion prime for an ST version or is Ford Racing/SVT tapped out with too many projects? We have a new-generation F150 coming - will there be a new Raptor? How about the upcoming Mustang? Mach1, Shelby, SVO?
Buzz2K1
I googled ST and there are a few interesting pics out there. http://www.motortrend.com/features/auto_news/2012/1201_daydreaming_ford_fusion_st_hatch_and_wagon/ Edited January 15, 2014 by Buzz2K1
junehhan
There is absolutely no way I would be willing to buy a direct injected engine from a Korean company, let alone a V8 with direct injection. While Hyundai has done a very good job with quality control, their Kia counterparts have continued to struggle despite sharing the same platform for most of the vehicles. To be honest, I really wish Ford would update the new Taurus as the current platform is rather dated. Since the next Taurus is supposed to be on a modified Fusion platform, it is going to be both a looker and performer. I do want a real AWD setup like Ford used to offer with the Haldex differential and none of these really wimpy PSU's that are subject to failure under continued extreme conditions. As expensive as the Taurus has gotten, it deserves a real center differential.
BlackBetty
They need to beef up the Taurus and put it up there with the CTS-V or CTS-V Sport. Then make a Fusion ST/RS and put it on par with the ATS-V or ATS-V Sport. And for god sakes let us disable the stability control.
