Ethan Hope
Hey guys! New to the forum. Bought a sport in 2011 new, Just flipped 61k miles and obviously the service manual has the basic blah blah maintenance. But is there any other stuff that has been realized since the advent of the sport from an enthusiast stanpoint? Thanks in advance for your help. Take care!
akirby
Some folks recommend changing tranny fluid every 30K - 60K but it's definitely optional since Ford recommends 150K.
BlackBetty
These sports are pretty reliable. I believe most guys just do the recommended stud and are fine.
Cobraman302
If you are really particular about the maintenance on your vehicle, this is what I would do (And what I am doing, as my 2010 Sport will be hitting 75k next month). I am putting a Steeda engine mount in (stock one is starting to get noisy and loose), drain and replace trans fluid, replace spark plugs, and drain and replace coolant. Not much to these cars....I have had mine for 2 years now and 35k miles later its been problem free, and I am not easy on my cars. I would be what you would consider an "aggressive driver". fusion0389
I do regular syntheic oil/filter changes every 7,500-10,000 miles. Sythetic is not required, but is known to support longer drain intervals along with temperature extremes. Since I am a slightly agressive driver, I go ahead and use synthetic. I had my transmission fluid drained/filled at 32,000 and sent off a sample to blackstone laboratories for analysis, their results showed typical break in wear. If your transmission fluid has never been serviced I would recommend 2-3 drain and fill procedures with a 5-10 minute drive in between each one. You can get the fluid from ford or use Mobil 3309. Those two fluids are the only ones wih Ford's stamp of approval that meet Ford WSS-M2C924-A. Aside from fluids, I like to say on top of my air filters and also the cabin air filters, they get gunked up pretty quick so I usually keep a couple on hand for replacement.
