knoxco
I've noticed an intermittent issue where the rear view camera display in the mirror won't always come on when I shift into reverse. When it's working, it will come on and then not turn off for maybe three seconds after I shift out of reverse. That's what I would expect as normal behavior. What I get on occasion is either a mirror without any display while in reverse, or it will blink on and off in random intervals while in reverse (not a steady, one second on & one second off). It's not a blue screen; It's either a flawless rear view image, or nothing at all. And just to add more randomness to it, it seems to only happen in the evening when I drive home. In the mornings or mid-day trip to run some errand, no issue at all. I thought maybe the connection at the trunk might be wonky, but if that were the case I would expect to see a blue 'no signal'-type of screen. I'm not reversing into direct sunlight when this happens, and all else operates without issue (Reverse Sensing Tone is there when I'm close to something or when cross-traffic is detected). Maybe a connection in the shifter? The reverse lights themselves do not flicker.
FusionDiffusion
Yeah, that sounds like a problem with the reverse circuit. The green wire going into the back of the mirror gets switched 12V when the transmission is in reverse. So it's possible you have problem with that wire between where it's spliced into the reverse lamp wire and the mirror. Can you disconnect the connector on the back of the mirror and make sure the wires coming down from the headliner and the connector are okay?
