nevada43
Have a 2014 Fusion Sport SE with 2.0 Eco Boost engine. Notice at times there is a very SLIGHT hesitation when I lightly step on the accelator from a stop position. Just thought I would post my concern. junehhan
My advice to you would be to take it to your dealer if it is something that does not feel right. They have a ton of diagnostic equipment that they can plug into your vehicle while you demonstrate the concern to them. If this is something you can reproduce all the time, then you may even be able to just swing by when you have a moment depending on how good of a relationship you have with the service folks. Is this the first vehicle you have owned that has an electronic throttle body? For me, I noticed a very slight hesitation when I was decelerating almost to a stop and then lightly getting back on the gas again. After I reproduced it a few more times, I determined that it was just the transmission downshifting into 1st gear and the light hesitation during the shift was likely caused from the turbo dumping boost.
nevada43
I had a 2010 Fusion with the 2.5 litre engine. Do not think it had an "electronic throttle body". The car is only a month old and I have been dealing with this dealership for a long time so if it continues will stop in and get their thoughts. It seems not to do it all the time and I am thinking if it is the ecoboost engine response to how I step on the accelator? Thanks!
junehhan
The 2010 Fusion did have an electric throttle body. The reason I asked that is because some people who are driving their first vehicle with a drive by wire system sometimes complain about a very small delay that they eventually get used to. Most people usually never notice it unless you are very keen to noticing such details, but it is just the slight lag in response time versus a mechanical throttle body with a physical connection to the gas pedal. Ford has gotten very good at eliminating this lag over the years as even I have trouble picking it out when switching between my Ecoboost and the really old Focus that I still have. Just spend some driving it as it may just be the nature of the Ecoboost engine. How many miles do you have on it?
nevada43
Not sure about miles but I only have 700kms as I live in Canada....only had it for a month.

cbdallas
Every car I've owned since 2004 has had drive-by-wire and have all demonstrated this delay. You get used to it....until you drive a car with a cabled throttle, and then get back in your own car. :-)
junehhan
By any chance did you get an AWD Fusion? I wonder whether that just adds some extra components that could give you the perception of a very slight hesitation sometimes. Either way, just drive it and enjoy it so that you get more familiar with the vehicle. Your vehicle is also at this time trying to learn your driving behavior as it breaks in in order to maximize fuel economy and shift quality. I personally prefer mechanical throttle bodies, but sadly they have gone the way of the dinosaur. I prefer mechanical over electronic any day of the week. I also prefer METAL over composites as intake manifolds used to be a beautiful thing on engines.
