robertlane
I was reading over at Jalopnik that the Chevrolet SS is getting a manual transmission. I sure wish that Ford would make a hot Fusion ST version to spice up the lineup some. http://jalopnik.com/holy-crap-the-chevrolet-ss-is-getting-a-stick-shift-mo-1568025015
BlackBetty
Yeah that SS looks badass. I really hope ford does an ST car. Much like the old Mondeo ST200 and ST220.
junehhan
You guys have to remember that the market the SS sedan is in is a VERY niche' market. Ford has probably decided that it just is not worth the cost of entering that limited market when they have more important projects that need their engineering manpower right now. I would absolutely love to see a Fusion ST, but the Taurus SHO does a pretty good job in that market right now. I just wish Ford would update the Taurus platform to something a bit more modern as the Taurus is starting to go the way that is has repeatedly gone in the past where it is again unable to compete against the other large sedan offerings on the market. I do not want the Taurus to die again like it has before as it really is a good car.
akirby
The only reason Chevy brought the SS over in the first place is to throw a bone to the Aussies to make up for past transgressions. There can't be a business case - the volume is just too small. Taurus is being redone on the Fusion platform (lengthened and widened). Rumor is the next SHO will have 400 hp. With Flat Rock having spare Fusion capacity now, it might make sense to do a 2.3L (or 2.7L?) ecoboost Fusion.
BlackBetty
Of course, Ford makes their money selling Trucks, not preformace cars. Although it would be great to see more preformance cars coming from Ford. I'm not saying some moster power cars like the CTS-V, GT500, etc. Just some small changes that can make a huge difference. Take a FWD Fusion with the 2.0L from the Focus ST (with overboost) or 2.3L when it comes out Throw some nice struts, springs, sway bar and brakes (brembos) Make it a manual Allow the driver to be able to turn off stability and TCS. Doing this would make the car a BLAST to drive just like the Focus ST and I bet a lot of people would come over from European automakers, cut their payment in half and drive something just as fun. Which has happened with the Focus ST as well. Yes, regular cars sell more then preformace cars, but why not make a regular car a bit more fun to drive, charge more and still sell.
