sah
Does anyone have or know of a solution to adjusting the height of the passenger seat? The pitch of the seat cushion is very uncomfortable - it seems the front of the seat is higher than the rear of the seat - when you sit in the seat, you sink in the rear. We thought there was an adjustment on the side of the seat for height - but the only adjusments we see are a front bar to move the seat forward and back and a lever at the rear of the seat to let the back recline - we thought the passenger seat had a 6 position adjustment.
akirby
Not with the manual seat - only with the power seat.

At this point maybe you just need to find somebody to build you a custom vehicle exactly to your specs.
JGee
My '65 Mustang has metal wedges that you add or remove by backing off on the rear or front mount bolts, adding the wedges where required then re-tighting. Not sure that would work for you sah if you have the His & Her features.
B25Nut
I think the added adjustment is the tilt of the entire seat, not the height. To get a height adjustment on the passenger seat, you need the heated and cooled seat option, available only on late build '14s and the 2015s.
sah
At this point maybe you just need to find somebody to build you a custom vehicle exactly to your specs. No, just a few user selectable features - I'd like my wife to be able to ride in comfort and so would she - this should not be to much to ask for and should be expected. We will likely have to get some type of wedge support for the seat - perhaps that will help correct the pitch of the rear of the seat. I'm not sure why all my questions are so outrages - we were hoping to get a car both of us could be comfortable with - and while it drives very nicely - that is not all that counts - and yes, when you spend you funds for something - you want it to have and do the things that should be simple - after that - the fancy stuff can kick in. I did call the dealer today to see if we might be able to have a power passenger seat installed or even exchange the car for a trim model that has a power passenger seat. I was informed that the trim models that have power passenger seats have leather upulstery. The dealer is looking into have our passenger replaced/fitted with a power seat.
B25Nut
I had the same problem with my wife feeling like she was sitting in a hole. My solution was a foam pad with a sheepskin seat cover over it. My wife has had no complaints in the 18 months since the mod. Switching to the regular power seat will still not give you a height adjustment.
akirby
I just think you're far too demanding on how you think the car should work and unwilling to make simple changes to work with the car (wanting to leave the door open instead of just rolling down the windows to vent the hot air e.g.). I understand about the seat if it's not comfortable.

Thank you for your info and the pic - what did you use for a foam pad? The problem my wife is having, is due to the pitch (seat cushion is deeper in the rear then the front), it is agravating her siatica.
akirby
It would be easier to have an upholsterer add foam to the seat cushion rear or remove some from the front.

As I have previously explained, I was not aware of the remote open window - tou brought that to my attention and I thanked you for it - being that we have never had that before, there would be know reason for us to expect the fusion to have it. I am sorry that you think I am to demanding - but, I am very suprised that you as well would not want to have things the way you like them especially when they are major purchases.

Yes, we have givem thought to having that done - but, we do not think there is enough seat fabric to allow additional foam to be added. We will look into that though.

sah
Which is why you (and your significant other) try out a car before you buy it and thoroughly research what equipment is standard and what is optionally available . Test driving a car for 20 minutes, does not give the ability to know how things are going to be in the long term - and we did do a substantial amount of research. We did not think that the comfort of the passenger seat was something we needed to be concerned with - as this has never happened before. But, your right - we should have looked at all the fourms and posts first to see any complaints. But, you know - there is only so much one can do - are previous car was failing us and we did much of the research on the performance and overall satisfaction of the vehicle. You should also know that it is not the easiest to look over a new car when the salesman is on top of you. The salesman actually jumped into the passenger seat and had my wife sit in the back during the test drive - this was of course really stupid of us to permit and we really do blame ourselves for it.
B25Nut
There is a good discussion about the passenger seat on the Hybrid forum. Do a search on car seat cushions and you'll find several options. Pick one that is tapered so that the back of the seat is raised more. The seat cover is from Costco. I cut it in half and just used the bottom part.

We are planning to get a wedge type cushion - we are looking for one with some type of strape that will hold it in place - also one that has some thickness to it so it will raise my wife a inch or so for a better fit for the shoulder part of the belt. Thank you for letting me know about the Hybrid fourm, I will check it out.
EcoEvan
I didn't like the high front edge of the driver's seat, so I modified the seat angle by unbolting the two rear seat bolts, inserted large steel nuts under the rail tracks to tip the seat forward some, then re-tightened the rear bolts. There is plenty of length to the bolts so the anchor down strength of the seat is not compromised. Took 10 minutes.
David Bokan
I bought this cushion and it works great. The wife is happy and doesn't mind riding in my Fusion.
