sah
Will a 2004 Focus front passenger head restraights fit a 2014 Fusion? I saw one today and the 2004 Focus has stright rods on the head restrainghts. If it fits - it would solve the problem with the tilt.

Good luck.

OK, thank you - will any other head restrasints with stright roods fit? Took the car to our machanic and was strongly advised not to bend the rods, for fear that our insurance would have a big problem should we be in an accident - our mechanic was also able to see how the bend in the rods were causing an exaggerated tilt - he asked me to call him by weeks end - he is going to make a few calls to see what can be done - he has some excellant contacts - I will post if/when I get any information.
akirby
What's wrong with the head restraints? The newer design works great and I don't recall anyone complaining about them.
sah
What's wrong with the head restraints? The newer design works great and I don't recall anyone complaining about them. The forward tilt is to way much, they over lap the back of the seat- there are hundreds of complaints about them all over the web - not just Ford, but numerious other manufatures as well. The forward tilt makes a short person head get pushed to far forward and causes neck & back strain.
hermans
Raise the headrest a little. Still full protection and no neck strain. Try it - it works.
Chris Simons
I love the headrest. This is the first complaint that I've heard.
sah
Raise the headrest a little. Still full protection and no neck strain. Try it - it works. We have tried that doing that - there is no support at all. My wife is 5'1" - by raising the headrest - it leaves a large space which becomes a safty hazard. We have tried a product called Neck Ease - we really thought it would do the job, but the "hump" at the top does the same thing the headrest does - pushes her head to far forward. We are think of going to a car seat upholsterer to see what can be done - perhaps they can open up the headrtest cushion and do sometype of repositioning.
hermans
My wife is also 5-1 and it worked for her. I don't know what else to tell you.
propwash
What sometimes helps shorter people is to slightly recline the passenger's seat back just a little. This can tend to slightly increase the distance between the shoulders/back of the head and the seat/head restraint assembly. It doesn't work for everyone, but it might be worth a try. Good luck.
akirby
Considering your other issues I'm not surprised. Nobody else seems to have a problem with the 2013+ models. That's one thing they fixed. Do you have it tilted all the way back? It will tilt forward to the point of being uncomfortable but you can move it back by tilting it all the way forward and letting it go.

Yes, we have adjusted it as far back as it will go - actually there are numerious post with complaints on the Hybrid form as well as on other form web sites - We only wish we had done more research before making the purchase. But, we never figured that the headrests would be a problem. I'm really not sure of your meaning "Considering your other issues I'm not surprised", if you mean that I have had to many complants - then I can only say that I have seen many other posters speaking of problems they have encountered - so, why mine stand out, I am not sure. My wife now realize that sometimes the devil that you know, is better then the devil that you dont know - but, at the same time - we have the car, so we either have to figure a way to make it comfortable and at the same time safe for her, or I'm not sure what!
sah
Will the passenger headrest from a 2008 Fusion fit our 2014 fusion (the rods seem to be stright on the 2008 headrest). I've been looking at both junk yard and ebay listings and both have a selection of Fusion headrests - I'm just not sure in which model year the headrest design was changed to bend in the rods.
akirby
The only complaints I see on the new ones are from people who have the seat upright. If you recline the seat a little they seem to work fine. The 2010-2012s were really bad along with our 2008 edge.

We are also aware of reclining the seat - my wife is arthritic and she has to sit upright. What about headrests for models prior to 2010, will any of them fit?
RybSE
Why not take it to a Ford dealer? Have your wife sit in the car and see what the dealer can do as far as adjusting the headrest, etc. so she is comfortable.

When I called our dealer and asked about doing just that - the reply I received was - oh, thats just part of the stats. They showed no interest in helping. It would seem that all they care about is making the sale - once that's done, then just periodic servicing/maintance.

Reclining the seatback just a bit resolved my issue with the headrest.
