simons
I have a 2008 Fusion SE, and noticed the wiper on the passenger side of the car rests a little high when the wipers stop running. There's a white mark on the right-hand side of the windshield (if you're sitting inside) which I think indicates where the wiper blade is supposed to stop, but the end of the wiper blade stops a good 1" above it. It doesn't interfere with driving, but it is noticeable and annoying. Could some of you check if you have the same problem on your Fusion? I'm not sure if the problem started the last time I ran the wipers, or if it was like that when I bought it and just didn't notice at the time. Thanks! -Simons

I know one day I was planning to adjust it and it was right on the mark, so I don't think it does it every time.
macster
Wow.. I thought I was the only one with this "issue" I own a 2016 SE.. but my left wiper is the one that stops about 1 inch above where it's supposed to.. the annoying thing is that, every time I put the key in the ON position, the wiper goes down to were it's supposed to... every time... this can't be normal operation of the wipers.. i've never seen this before. This only happens when I run the wipers at the lowest setting...if I run the wipers at full speed and then stop them, they go all the way down. I have taken my car to the dealer twice already.. the first time the said they had to calibrate the wipers, but that did not fix the issue.. so I took it back and they replaced the wiper motor.... same thing.. so finally they said there's nothing else they can do because there is no code.... Im like, are you serious, so no code no fix? that's were I am at this point.
andyross
I have a feeling even something as simple as wipers has gotten too complicated. With all the talk of 'calibrating', it sounds like it now just uses a position sensor instead of simple switches. Probably different, but my 2011 has a semi-similar issue. When it's on automatic, the wipers sometimes seem to stop a bit late and just begin to go back up. When that happens, it will no longer auto-wipe. I have to manually trigger a wipe. It sometimes happens when it's in intermittent mode. It can be find for a long time, then keep acting up every few wipes. I wish I could disable the auto settings and just have it work as a manual intermittent.
futurefordfusion
I am experiencing this issue too on a 2012 Fusion SEL. Sometimes (not always) the wipers will start wiping continuously or stop in the middle of the glass when switched to intermittent. The passenger side wiper is also now parking a bit high, compared to my neighbor's 2012 Fusion. I would love to try a fix, but I notice that other attempted fixes (replacing switch, motor, etc.) have not solved the problem. Perhaps the wiper got physically out of calibration. What can we check?
