Bob B.
My Ford dealership had a problem diagnosing the source of my transmission fluid leak. Finally, they claim that the leak is between the engine and trans and that they will remove the trans to "seal up the leak." I understand that the service advisor is oversimplifying the repair procedure. Does anyone here know what might be the leak source? Thanks for any info and regards from Canada. Bob B.
After some Googling, I see that the inside area between the engine and transaxle should be free from any oil. The only source of trans fluid in that area would be the torque converter or a leak at the trans shaft seal. Another question. Is there a gasket between the engine and trans that would hold back any leaks. Also, is it necessary to remove the engine in order to remove the transaxle? Thanks again. Bob B.
The 6F35 transmission fluid leak has been successfully repaired. The first repair replaced the left half shaft and both axle seals. The left side was leaking. The second repair replaced both axle seals again. The third repair replaced the dip stick and tube. New style. The final repair (removed the trans) replaced the torque converter seal, trans seals and sealed the trans casing halves. Bob B. The final repair replaced both axle seals again, just because. Edited November 2, 2014 by Bob B.
