ltng7679
I have a 2010 Fusion I purchased last spring. I have been smelling gas but have no codes. It seems more pronounced in stop and go driving than the highway. Comes and goes but isn't related to filling tank. Just had it the other day and only had 1/4 tank and not filled recently. Any ideas?

This sounds like something to bring to the attention of your dealership, ltng7679. How many miles are on your Fusion? Crystal
ltng7679
Crystal - I have 143K miles on the car. I got it in the spring with 128k miles. I've had the fuel smell intermittently since I got it, although there was some early interior odor that I had to cure with trays of charcoal brickets that covered it up more in the beginning. I'm the only one who puts gas in it and I never "top it off" after I fill it. AKirby- I thought of replacing the evap canister but was wondering if replacing it without also replacing the vapor canister purge valve. Also -from what I've read, it seems like there are a number of tests performed by the PCM of the EVAP system that would check for different types of leaks. Therefore I'm surprised that I have not seen any codes or pending codes if the system was leaking enough for me to smell gas.
ltng7679
New information - I took a look under the car while I had it up on Jackstands for a brake job. I noticed that one of the two small hoses (the one below where the main fill connects at the end where you put the gas in) just runs down to the wheel well area and just stops. I could not see where it would connect to. It looks like someone just tucked it up behind the other hose after disconnecting it. Anyone know where this connects?
drolds1
It doesn't connect to anything. It's an overflow drain. Edited January 5, 2015 by drolds1
