2016 Fusion... changes...whats new...

Howdy everyone - It's hard to believe another production model year is closing in once again for the Fusion.. and once again an EARLIER than usual close.. My source advises me that the FINAL cut-off for placing orders for 2015 Fusions is in only TWO SHORT WEEKS from now!! ( January 29, 2015 ).

The order bank on placing orders for 2016 Fusions starts on February 02, 2015.

With that being said, I am looking to replace my 2013 Fusion.. and was wondering if anything resembling the customary Order Guide has been released yet on the new 16's ?? My local Ford store said they have not received anything yet, but said they should be getting something "soon" ... Was wondering if anyone heard anything ( besides all the rumor/pics of the "Fusion" - but may actually end up being the 16 Taurus )...

Thanks

:shrug:

There's not a lot of info yet. So far, it appears that the front side glass will be one- piece, eliminating the little triangular, fixed ¼-window. The dash/IP is all new as is the center console with a rotary shift knob replacing the current shifter. The new 9-speed transaxle might make an appearance.

Thanks droids1... We'll have to see how this unfolds... I've read articles depicting what you've described....and thinking the cars in those articles could be one of two things....a new (mid-life restyle) Fusion....(but to come out in LATE 2016)...or...a camouflaged Taurus...which has been reported to become a stretched, widened version of the Fusion. Considering the fact that the European version of the Fusion (Mondeo) has JUST rolled out across Europe, I'm thinking Ford may wait another year before any substantial changes appear on the stateside model. I only wish either the 5-door HATCHBACK or even the WAGON variants would become available...but II fear Europe/China get all the good stuff... (optional heated REAR seats with redundant climate/entertainment controls in the fold-down armrest, power tilt-telescope wheel, adaptive full LED headlamps, FACTORY-installed Privacy Glass option, etc).

I read that Ford stated they would roll out the Blackberry-based SYNC-3 as each of their product offerings received an instrument panel/dashboard redesign...so I really wouldn't expect to see SYNC-3 in Fusion/MKZ until the 2017 model year refresh - and to expect a period of time where there will be overlap of the phase-out of Microsoft-based SYNC-2 (MyFordTouch/MyLincolnTouch) and then new Blackberry-based SYNC-3 system until each Ford/Lincoln product receives their updated dash.

Since there is so little to speak of in terms of change for 2016, I decided to order a -

2015 Fusion Titanium AWD ( $ 32,290 )

- Bronze Fire Metallic Tinted Clearcoat ( $395 )
- Charcoal Black / Soft Ceramic Leather two-tone interior

- Power Moonroof with Universal Garage Door Opener ( $995 )
- 19" H-spoke Dark Stainless Wheels ( $695 )
- Titanium Driver Assist Package ( $1,200 )

Includes:
* Automatic High-Low Beam Headlamp dimming
* Blind Spot Information System with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
( replaces integrated convex blind spot mirrors with LED indicators )
* Rain Sensing Windshield Wipers
* Lane Departure Warning System
* 110-V Power Outlet

- Heated and Cooled Front Seats ( $395 )
- Heated Steering Wheel ( $150 )
- Navigation System with Sony Audio System ( $795 )
- Premium Floor Mats with Trunk Mat ( $175 )
(upgraded 20-oz Shiva carpeting; front mats have "FUSION" logo embroidered)

Dropped off the deposit... Now it's just a waiting game...
My dealer, who sells a lot of them, told me they are on some priority allocation program,
so that should hopefully shorten the wait time a bit. We'see how it all plays out.

These 19" wheels are the same as what I have on my Deep Impact Blue 13 Fusion Titanium. I love the look of them, I feel they feel the wheel housings really aggressively as compared to the turbine-styled "nail spikes" look of the standard Titanium 18" wheel. I'm in the western suburbs of the southeastern part of the state... It seems Bling is King out my way. The 19" H-spoke do it , but in a more sporty fashion. What is still weird to me, is the almost-identical-looking-at-first-glance-but-not-really - 17" wheel which is on Titanium Hybrid models... It's like zMini Me, but not...

Bling isn't that important to me and as I said, you are brave. Those 19's and especially that dark grey one look damn good as they really have a sporty look. I think I read though that the 19's are becoming huge targets among thieves looking to jack the rims from someone's car because those 19's aparantly fit on some other popular cars out there. Even with these 18's that came stock, they make me nervous driving around some of our roads. Thankfully, this winter hasn't been too harsh on our roads as it was last year.

Who cares about being brave?? They're wheels. I buy things I want and like...and what make the vehicle look hot. I don't worry about potholes and such... I drive carefully...and if any road becomes that bad, I can avoid it.. I LOVE bling... and well, that's what anti-theft wheel locks are for.. I have the 19's (and extra-cost) wheel locks) on my 13 Titanium... and two years later, they're still beautiful...and still with my car. People worry too much... If your 18's make you "nervous'....why even get a Titanium?? Or swap out the wheels and tires for a set of 16 or 17'" and get some plastic wheel covers. Safe and sound.

It basically comes down to risk management and cost benefit analysis. Ironically I just got off the elevator with someone who was talking about how they just destroyed their rims on the way in. The stock Titanium rims look good and appear to be well engineered rims. Had they made the Titanium with 17's, that could have been an option when I bought it just like how I went out of the way to get the stock 16's on an Escape I used to have rather than the optional 18's that every dealer ordered them with for the loaded trim levels.

I would like to avoid bad roads, but that is often not an option for me. They do not fix the roads around here. Last winter, the exit ramp to get to my house caused 15+ blowouts that I counted and then they just stuck a cone into the hole in the earth for over a month.

"....It basically comes down to risk management and cost benefit analysis. ...." .... Seriously??? Did you work up an Excel spreadsheet with pie chart also? When you get into the Titanium series, it often should be even more about passion and coolness of driving the top trim level with all the extra features not available on the cheaper variants. If the nervousness and fear of driving it with the 18's bothers you (and from your reaction, it sounds like it does), maybe you shouldn't have gotten the Titanium...

It's like that old adage "You want to play, you gotta pay"... or just move to another state with better roads.

(GRINS)?

I also got the Ford tire care warranty from my dealer along with a 6/100k premiumcare ESP. I negotiated a very aggressive price on both. My schedule is just damn tight that anything unscheduled could ruin my day. I recently got back from working in Alaska and I was shocked to see just how amazing their roads really are so long as you do not leave pavement. Many people who meet me in person think that I am an actuary or accountant. If you ever run into me in real life, I will probably bore the hell out of you because I see the world in terms of numbers, risk, and cost/benefit. I got the Titanium for the 2.0 Ecoboost and also because it had everything I wanted in the SE stock instead of a la carte.
