Stevea26
Anyone have real good spy shots they can point me to?? They seem to be covering this car up pretty good. I do know some details of the new car. Like the 2009 will be a short run and the 2010 will be out in Jan 09. Any news???

Like the 2009 will be a short run and the 2010 will be out in Jan 09. Any news??? Autoblog had some spy shots but nothing worth searching for. Ford has done an amazing job keeping this one under wraps. One big change for the 2009 model is the addition of ESC (stability control). The old Ford would have just waited for the 2010 model to add that. It shows they're trying to make changes quickly now. We should see the 2010 model at the LA auto show in November. Job1 in December, on sale in January.

That almost seems like a schedule for the 2009 rather than the 2010. Are the 2009 even out yet? I'm seriously behind the times here. Where can I get more information about the '09s and '10s?

Where can I get more information about the '09s and '10s? The 2009s go into production next month and will only be around for 6 months. Other than minor color changes and the addition of a Blue sport package the only big change for 2009 is the addition of stability control (finally). The 2010 models were initially due out this fall, then got pushed back due to resource constraints, then were pulled forward to December. Ford is trying really hard to get the new stuff out there as quickly as possible with limited resources.

Waiting to see how much$$ I work at a dealer so I can spec them out....

Also did any of you see the latest shots that show the top of the dash?? Also the car in that shot has lower body side sill extentions. Maybe from the sport/ST Fusion???

akirby
Have you seen it?? Only a spy shot of the top of the center stack, but you can see that it's different. It protrudes from the dash unlike the current one that's flat. Also confirmed by some who have seen it, or know those that have seen it. Material quality is said to be MUCH better.

I was just thinking it would have been more like the 08 Escape and 09 F150 in the way they have the dash top display?? Guess not. Dyoct
No, no spy shots to point you to. But yes, it'll be a good one. Yes, I think it'll be worth the added delay. Yes, it'll go into production very late this year. And yes, it looks very good

I like the idea that my 2007 Fusion will still look "new" since the 2009s will not be changed dramatically in appearance. However, with the 2010s debuting so early in 2009 my '07 becomes three years old when it's really only two years old, if you get my drift. My original plans were to keep the 2007 for a very long time but the horrific in-city mileage factor has me thinking that a 4-cylinder 2010 might be a good investment. I can't imagine that Ford will sell all that many 2009s with the 2010s waiting in the wings to debut.

It should also be out in January (but that's not 100% confirmed yet).

Also looking at 175-200 HP from the 4 from what I gather.

Also looking at 175-200 HP from the 4 from what I gather. More like 1-2 mpg better and 175 hp. But none of that will help Boz - he has a short <5 mile daily commute in stop-n-go traffic, so he's never going to get the EPA mileage.

In fact we only get 20 mpg from a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder Zetec in a 2000 Ford Focus station wagon in our all-city driving.
Stevea26
Yeah less than 5 miles will not to any good. The Car wont even warm up by the time you shut it off. 1-2 MPG better is not true. They have not did the finals yet but I would say that the HWY EPA (for what its worth) will be top of class=32plus.
akirby
Here are much better spy shots of the interior (with Navigation). I think this is the same navigation screen that's in the MKS - it's huge. This is definitely an upgrade over the current version but I was hoping for more. Maybe the production version materials will make a difference.

Yeah I was going to buy a 2009 Milan but now I'm thinking it might be a better idea to just wait until Jan. and get a 2010. Does this mean that the 2010 models will be around for 1 1/2 years? Or will the 2011 models come out in the following Sept./Oct of 2009?

Yes, the 2010 model will likely be around for 14-18 months with the 2011 models coming out spring of 2010 or thereabouts. Ford seems to be getting away from the traditional Fall introductions which I think is a good thing since it moves the new stuff closer to the Detroit Auto Show.

Well car sales are down, and this does help them get more mileage out of the 2008 stampings as the new cars haven't really changed, but I don't understand why they have to call the cars coming out in Jan '2010' and not just keep them 2009's. I just hope I can stretch things out and wait another 6 months. I was really looking forward to getting a 2009, but it doesn't make any sense to do that now
