Ive got the light stone interior in my Fusion. I want the all black with black leather seats. You got any rough idea what all the parts would cost me to swap it over? I cant find anything used yet.

Are you looking just for the seats, or seats and door panels?

That's pretty cool! If that had been available for 2008 I might have ordered that package instead of the SAP with the red leather inserts. On the other hand, my last car (Focus ST) had Suede & Leather seats, and I always kinda wished it just had leather. But Blue is my favourite colour... hmmm decisions decisions! Maybe I'm lucky it wasn't an option for 08 afterall...

So if I was going to factory order an '09 with the SAP option, I can add one of these custom colored interiors. That means I would not opt for the $900 leather seats with the SAP, but go with the cloth and then pay the above listed prices for the custom leather?

I'm torn between just sticking with a Redfire Fusion with stock leather SAP seats with red inserts, changing over to the maraschino inserts because it seems like a nicer red than the SAP red, or going with the always appealing charcoal/gray insert combo...

Thanks!

Hi Joe,

Just to be clear, the Katkin interiors aren't available from the factory. You can order the blue suede package, as pictured in the image in the original post, but it only has one colour option--blue.

Katkin sell custom seat covers in many colour combinations, as you have seen based on the katkin.com link in the original post. These are not factory options. I'm not sure if a Ford dealer can order them for you, or if you have to get them from Katkin themselves.

So, if you want the blue suede package, you can order it with your car from the factory. If you want the SAP package with either red inserts or I think a new light stone gray insert, you can order it from the factory. If you want one of the custom katkin seat covers, then you should probably just order cloth seats from the factory and then buy the seat covers from katzkin and have them installed on your seats.

I hope this helps clear up any confusion.

The suede looks great, but I'm disappointed overall because I was hoping for a dash redesign for '09. IMO the dash design was never very inspiring to begin with, much less so now when you look at the newest competition (Malibu, '09 Sonata, Accord). Obviously styling is subjective though and this is just my opinion. Hopefully they've improved plastics quality; which while not terrible, could definitely use an upgrade (especially as the competition improves).

The dash redesign happens for the 2010 model that hits dealer lots in January.

Anybody know what the wheels are going to look like for the BSP? They are supposed to be 18" wheels, but in the order book they show the SAP wheel and then show a "image coming soon" where the pic for the BSP wheel would be. I saw a sample of the new color "Sport metallic blue" and it is hot!

Also, the BSP does not come with a rear spoiler which sux. I really like the SAP rear lip spoiler. But I also really like having the rear brake light in the spoiler, so if you ordered a BSP and added a spoiler, would the third brake light be in the window or the spoiler?

I wish there were additional pics of the BSP interior. When the heck is Ford going to add the '09 to their website and get brochures out to dealers?!

Regarding the spoiler: you could order the car without a spoiler, then order the SAP spoiler through the parts department and have it painted and installed. This way as you point out you would also have a break light in the rear window. Some people have removed theirs and covered up the whole in the rear deck lid with a custom built fabric-wrapped or vinyl-wrapped insert.

Another option would be to order the car with the regular spoiler, which also has the LED break light in it, and order a SAP spoiler from the parts department and have it painted and installed. This way you wouldn't have to remove and cover up the break light from the rear window as it would never be there to begin with. This has the unfortunate side effect that you'd be paying for the factory spoiler (not sure how much it is down south, in Canada it's around a $300 option) and not using it. Plus, I'm not sure if the two spoilers mount the same way or not so this might be complicated.

I'll leave the other stuff up to the dealers to comment on but realize it does take some time and effort to update marketing materials and site contents; also realize that they are still trying to market and sell the remaining 2008's and if they get a lot of info out there about the 2009's, that becomes difficult as people might only want to wait for the 2009's instead.

If I were in your shoes, yeah I think I'd go with the BSP package with no spoiler and consider adding the SAP spoiler later, though I also think the Fusion looks cleaner with no spoiler at all personally. If both the SAP package and BSP package had been available when I was ordering, I think unless the wheels were significantly less nice, I'd probably go BSP.

I need to know what those damn new wheels look like on the BSP. Are they just the SAP wheels painted in the "Dark Stainless finish"? A new style altogether? I could probably live with the regular, non SAP spoiler. Can't buy a car without knowing what the wheels look like!
