AZWSUCoug
In December 2014 I purchased a 2014 Ford Fusion Titanium used, with about 22k miles on it. I already planned on taking the car into a Ford Dealership to have them fix/replace the plastic panel on the driver side door (the piece that connects to the window and mirror controls) and I'm getting the rattling/vibration noises coming from the passenger side (likely the door). But starting this week, I noticed while I was on the freeway, at normal freeway speeds, that the car starts vibrating. At lower speeds everything is smooth but once I get to around 45-50 MPH I start feeling the vibrations. The car only has 24,600 miles on it, any ideas of what's going on?
akirby
Most likely an out of balance tire.
AZWSUCoug
I hope you are correct, that would be the easiest fix/solution. I'll either go to a tire shop to have them rotate/balance the tires or wait until Saturday when I get my oil changed. Do you think it has to do with the alignment at all?
drolds1
Alignment issues shouldn't cause a vibration at speed. As akirby states, the most likely culprit is an out of balance wheel/tire. You could also have a defective tire, a bent rim from hitting a pothole, etc. There can be other causes, e.g., driveline issues, as well A competent shop should be able to figure it out.
AZWSUCoug
Ok, going to take my car to Discount Tire at lunch and have them take a quick look and at the very least check the balance.
akirby
Make sure they do Hunter Road Force Balancing where they simulate the road on the tires. Could be as simple as a wheel weight that fell off.
AZWSUCoug
Thanks guys, there was a tear in the sidewall of one of my tires. Replaced that tire and the vibration is gone.
propwash
You're lucky you discovered it when you did. I would hate to have a tire let go while I was doing 60-70 mph on the freeway.

AZWSUCoug
You don't say, I wasn't even thinking it was the tire, glad I asked on here.
