Rear turn signal issues 09 Ford Fusion

Recommended Posts

Okay, so last week the dash said to check my drivers side rear turn signal. I replaced the bulb, still nothing. In addition, when I use the passenger side turn signal, the passenger side tail light flashes instead of the blinker. I checked all my fuses, nothing. I tried swapping the passenger and driver side turn signal fixtures, still nothing. If I put te hazards on, the two front turn signals and the passenger side rear tail light blink. I ran the system check on the dash, it only says to check my left turn signal if I have it activated, otherwise it reads all okay. I'm seriously having difficulty figuring this out, any help would be appreciated.

If a bulb blinks backwards, or you get some weird other lights blinking instead, that can be the sign of a poor ground. If you haven't already, you may want to at least check the bulb and remove/reseat it, or even just go ahead and replace it.

Since the tail lights have 2 filaments, if the common connection goes bad, the current goes through both filaments, causing all sorts of weird effects.
