sn3aky
Hello all, recently diagnosed my alternator as being on its last leg. I'm searching for a heavy duty alternator that can put out more power and keep up with aftermarket equipment that has been installed. The equipment in question is for emergency services so I can't have any failures on the system and it must last for the long haul. If you would like any more information to better help then please feel free to ask. Thank you

sn3aky
Thank you for the suggestion but I have a feeling that he's going to be way out of my price range due to the fact that it's custom and small company. Any ideas on a good manufacturer that has the proper size to fit my car?

Alternators are reactive, so if you are worried about lights flickering a capacitor is your answer as it will provide makeup voltage during moments of high power usage, which is the caveat because your alternator will not respond to a high draw until after it has taken place (which is why your lights flicker). Your stock alternator is already really good for charging, and it will supply more than enough power for just about any sound system or light display you could have on the car. If really think you need extra juice, get two capacitors and an AGM battery with better ratings than the stock battery..
