tenny80
What are the oem tires on the 2012 ford fusion SEL 3.0 AWD? We are looking at buying one and I'm trying to figure out if they are the original tires.. they don't look to have much tread but some tires now never have much even new! They are Pirelli tires.

Hi tenny. Those are not the OEM tires. Pirelli was not an OEM tire on the 2012 Fusion. If you still want to know the OEM tire, you can go to The Tire Rack website and input the information for your car in the tire buying selector and it will list the OEM tire. Good luck Edited April 21, 2015 by bbf2530
akirby
The tirerack website seems to be hosed right now, but they will show you the OEM tire options.
andyross
The tire may vary, and TireRack may be wrong. Mine had Michelin MXV4 Energy S8 and I'm quite sure were factory original (bought the car used). TireRack said it was another Michelin. I even tried TireRack using my father's 2012 Fusion Hybrid (bought new), and it came up with the wrong tires (it also has the Energy's.) I replaced them late last year with the Pirelli P7 Cintaurato All Season Plus. Top-rated on TireRack for it's category (Grand Touring All Season.) I actually bought the tires from Discount Tires and installed at one of their stores. Overall price was about the same as buying them from TireRack, shipping, and having them installed at a local garage. akirby
Tirerack doesn't carry all brands or models and they usually list multiple OEM tire choices if applicable (they list 2 for the 2012 fusion SEL 17 inch wheels but I couldn't find them with the website snafu). Just because it doesn't show one choice doesn't mean it's wrong about the ones it does show. But there could be others that they don't carry.
tenny80
Thanks guys! We wound up buying the car and take delivery of it tonight. It has the 18" rims and I confirmed with the dealership they had been replaced. They are the Pirelli's mentioned above so they should be a good tire from the sounds of it! The car has right around 40,000 miles any major services coming up or maintenance that I should be looking into doing? (I do most everything myself)
Fuser
Have a question for the tires on my SE. The original tires are Michelin. My 2012 has only 17k+ miles because I only drive on weekends and short trips through the week. Had a flat and the tire guy said I should replace all since they are four years old. Yes the side walls have tiny cracks. Should I replace all four? The tread is hardly worn. Should I put something on them to prevent the cracks? Heard that Ozone causes the cracks. Is the UV from sunlight the problem? Remember running original tires on my truck for 50k over a ten year period.
drolds1
Four years is not a lot for today's tires. Nobody recommends replacement based on age at four years. For your type of driving, I think you're OK, as long as there are no deep cracks outside or inside the tires. I just replaced the tires on my 97 Nissan. I drive that car about 1K miles a year, all local . Time got away from me and when I checked, I was taken aback to find that they were 12 years old! The tread was like new but I figured I was pushing my luck. These days, most tire mfrs. recommend not using tires that are more than six years old. You can determine when your tires were manufactured by decoding the DOT info on the sidewall. Manufacturers warranty tires for 5 years form the date of manufacture. if you're still concerned, let a Michelin dealer inspect them. More info, at tirerack.com.
