Monroe Quick Strut for 2010 Ford Fusion Good Or Bad??

Recommended Posts

Looking to replace my suspension in my 2010 Ford Fusion. The vehicle has 175,000 miles and it is past due. The strut mounts are making some noises over bumps. I know replacing struts are a huge pain due to the spring needed to be compressed. Wondering to save time and money are the monroe quick strut option worth trying? Are they OEM quality or a cheaper grade? Will the ride quality be the same? Too many questions to ask but hoping a fellow owner has tried them and let me know.

Thanks

My experience with Monroe shocks is; they are good quality but are not as durable as more expensive shocks. They are tuned for normal everyday driving and typically do not handle as well as Bilstein or other performance oriented shocks. I would guess the quick struts would give similar results. Still not a bad choice depending on what you are expecting from them.

Not looking for anything performance wise, just daily driver. Im not worried about their strut performance or durability but more so upon their strut mounts and spring quality. I didnt know if the gauge of steel was the same and ride height. Also I didnt want crappy strut mounts and bearings what will make noises shortly after.

I purchased the quick struts for the fusion. Upon first look they seem great. Nice finish they look very similar besides the dust boot and bump stop. I was pretty excited to see how they perform. After install I went down the road to try some bumps and some speed bumps to see how nice the ride is. Well I must I am very disappointed, they ride terrible. They are extremely noisy, It sounds like the strut rod is smacking inside the strut mount. My worn out stock struts, springs and mounts were tons quieter. Also monroe quick struts raised the front end around 2 inches. I guess I need to take them back out and try to get a refund since I am not settling for this ride. Heads up they suck

I have installed hundreds of quick struts over the years and have had only a couple be bad out of the box. Recently my DS spring broke on my 2011 Fusion SEL FWD so I purchased a set of Monroe quick struts. I am having the same issue as Lunareclipse02. First set, passenger side knocking like crazy over small road imperfections. Checked out EVERYTHING. Then I thought I would put the original passenger side ( known good strut ) and guess what.... noise is gone. So I warrantied the strut. Put the new one in and the noise is back. Put original strut back on... NO NOISE! I say these struts assemblies are crap or they have a bad batch. So I contacted Monroe to find out if they have had any complaints.... of course not. They will be sending me yet another strut assembly. If this one is crap I will be getting a refund.

I put Monroe quick struts on my 99 Taurus and they worked like a charm, no noises although they didn't necessarily improve the ride quality... then again in the 90's Ford was tuning suspension in the midsize category more for "floating on a cloud" feel rather than "driving a car" feel.

I am currently looking for a QuickStrut recommendation for a 2014 Ford Fusion Titanium Hybrid 18" rims.  I'm interested in original ride height and the original ride quality.  From my research neither Bilstein or KYB provide the QuickStrut for the Fusion.  Recommendations are appreciated.

The quality of quick struts has fallen off a cliff.  I would buy all the individual parts and have them built using quality parts.  SUre it will be far more expensive, but you will regret quick struts when they crap out after a year.
