2015 Fusion annoying noise drivers door

I purchased a 2015 Ford Fusion Titanium new and currently have 2200 miles on it. It has developed a noisy rattle/buzz in the drivers side door. I can tap on the soft touch portion of the door above the interior latch (from door lock almost to the front) and hear it buzz.

I took it to dealers and explained, they said they fixed it 'per ford specs' and said a clip was loose. Driving home it was doing the exact same thing. Strange thing is on the passenger side, when you tap the same area it sounds solid and makes no noise. Drivers side sounds hollow behind the soft touch panel. Is there some sound deadening material behind there that maybe was overlooked?

Vibrations are heard when certain notes are played on stereo (I dont crank the bass!). Looking for anyone else with similar issue or hoping someone from Ford actually reads this and cares about customer satisfaction.

Thanks!

I want to look into this further, G. Please send me a private message with your VIN, best daytime phone number, full name, and dealer name/location.

I would contact the ford rep on here. Hope that will help

You either need to convince your dealer that it's not fixed or find another dealer. Make 4 more posts and send a PM to FordService for assistance.

Thanks guys!

I have this as well, front driver side. Seems to be coming from the windshield/sidewindow/dashboard region. I have noticed it gets worse when the AC is on and I am driving on the highway but I have not taken it to the dealer yet. I figured I'd get it checked out with my first oil change. I currently have less than 4000 miles on the car and it was bought new.

I have the same noise in exactly same place from 10 km in my car as well. Hoped that during with time it will suppress but it is still there, and even more annoying.

My car was built on 21.04.2015. When was yours built rollo67 ?

Can't believe I found something regarding this. I have the same issue in my 2014 SE. Clicking/soft rattling noise coming from inside pillar B, driver's side: "tic-tic-tic-tic-tic-tic-tic-tic-tic-tic-tic..." It's subtle, but just loud enough to distract and annoy you when driving for long hours.

This is a rather unimportant problem, so should I go to my dealer for this? It is very annoying indeed.

I have the same problem. 2014 SE. Slight creaking or ticking noise as you drive. The sound goes right into my left ear. Rough roads make it tick more. I have noticed the external B piller trim with the keypad creaks when I push my fingers on it. It feels cheap as a result. I also have the annoying buzz rattle in the drivers door but it goes away if my arm is resting on it.

Has anyone (including a service department) found the solution to this problem? I am experiencing the same on my 2015 Fusion Titanium. I have 17K miles. Noise started around 14K. Intermittent at first, now happens all the time. Drivers side door panel rattles or ticks--however you'd describe it. Happens with either mild road vibrations or music with medium bass, even at low levels. When I push in on the center upper portion of the door panel about 3 to 4 inches from the top of the panel the rattle stops--even when driving or while the music plays. When I remove the pressure, the ticking starts again. It sounds like it could be a wire harness or something similar vibrating against the door panel itself. Either way, as many have already said, it's annoying as heck. And yes, it happens on both doors. But the driver's door is far more annoying because of it's proximity to my left ear. Ughhh!!!

Hi AlamoHeat,

Let's silence this rattle! Please private message me your VIN, best daytime phone number, full name, and dealer name/location. I'll look into this further.

You can't - they're independently owned businesses. Did you go to the owner (dealer principal)? That would be the first step. If they can't help then contact Meagan above with FordService or just take it to another dealer.

Thanks! We don't have a Canada rep on the board at the moment, so any Canadians should head to their Twitter, Facebook, or Customer Relationship Center (1-800-565-3673 (M-F 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET))

I had a same annoying problem. The noise came from the "B" pillar. The noise became stronger if I'm driven over 130 km/h.

The noise sounds like a strong wind noise.

The problem was the cover under the car chassie.

If you see under the car you can see it is covered with a black panels. This paneles attached to the chassie with special clips. This clips usually are not locking the panels tight enough. In this case the panels are moving during the car is runing due to the airflow under the car.

When the panels are moving You can hear this strange noise from the "B" pillar.

The solution is, remove the clips remove the panels, make the clips more tight to put hard rubber or hard foam under the clips with glue. And put everything is back. Check the panels after the reinstallation. If they are not moving, tight enough, the noise will disapper.

I hope I could help You.

the administrator closed my post with similar noise issue on the drive door panel . so i have to reply here.

here is my original post: http://www.fordfusionforum.com/topic/16316-interior-noise-diagnosis-help/

i had strong feeling something loose inside of the door panel. and found out this step-by-step surgery instructions to remove the fusion door panel( http://www.paulstravelpictures.com/2013-2016-Ford-Fusion-Interior-Door-Panel-Removal-Guide/)

after 15 minutes hard work, i finally opened the drive door panel and took it off from the door frame.

i checked carefully the area on the other side of the door lock/unlock bottom and speaker. Everything seems normal and tight enough, except the little speaker, which has two round-shape components assembled together( i forgot to picture them), the small one component can twist 360 degree within another. they are not tight enough. i presume this may be the only reason leading to the noise when my car is bumping on local street.

here is my solutions. Instead of using tape, i used a heavy duty elastic rubber band ,made a loop and put it on the speaker component to tighten this assemble set in 360 degree,so that the the small component can't be twisted in the bigger component.(i dont think tape will give me the same result ).. All set...another 15 minutes to re-assemble the door panel.

today i had road drive test and the drive door panel noise is gone . Cheers!

Glad you found the issue and a solution. Unfortunately, that may be only a temporary solution. Rubber bands dry out and break fairly quickly and that may be accelerated inside the door panel where it can get pretty warm if parked in the sun or in summer. If tape can solve it, get a roll of the silver metal duct tape with the removable paper backing, very durable with great adhesion, it's my favorite tape. Another option might be a specialty electrical tape for high/low temps.

I found it. Let me try and explain. The door panels bolt in with 4 screws, however, where the panel hooks over the door frame at the window, it doesn't secure to anything. It just sits there, ticking. My rear passenger door was doing this. I took the soft side of Velcro with adhesive backing, made a few strips and placed them up and over the door part nearest the window. I then took a longer strip of Velcro and lined the inner part of the panel that aligns with the door that I just lined out with smaller strips. Ticking gone. I hope this helps.

So I'm having this issue too on my '14 Titanium but I hear it coming from the passenger doors area and only when I'm going 60+ MPH. I can't determine if it's in the door or underneath the car. Here's a YouTube link- you tell me, where's the sound coming from? What do you think it might be?

Hi all, I just registered on this site today to get info on this EXACT same issue, which is driving me nuts!

2015 Fusion, bought a couple months ago from Carmax with about 38K miles.

Creak/tick coming from rear passenger area, fairly sure that the plastic piece on the running board inside the doorway is at fault. Only happens at highway speeds. Pushing on the plastic molding definitely produces a creaking noise, whereas driver side rear molding does not creak.

Thinking of taking to the local Ford dealer tomorrow to see if it can be replaced. Unfortunately this one issue is ruining an otherwise perfect car for me, so I really hope it can be fixed.

I own a 2016 Ford Fusion. I have had a rattling noise in the driver side column next to the windshield. It has been to the dealership multiple times and no one can figure out the problem. I have owned this car for almost 3 years now and have just over 50k miles on it. I have had it in the shop numerous times for various issues.

Do you have any after-sales electrical accessories installed in your Fusion? Dashcam, etc.

Sometimes cables that are tucked into the A-pillar can rattle if not properly routed.
