A/C blowing hot air

I am having issues with my AC. Went out (blew hot air) intermittently for a while, then started always blowing hot air. I had my mechanic check the compressor (running correctly at about 250/40) and the freon (had a minor leak that was fixed). After searching online and the forum, we decided it was probably the evap temp sensor. My mechanic was unable to change it, so a friend and I changed it. The air blew cold that night after changing it, but then started blowing hot again the next day.

 

I then searched the forum some more and found the issues with the blend door actuator. Somewhere (I was researching for a LONG time) I saw a statement to turn the air knob all the way to hot, and click by click turn it to cold. This works temporarily.

 

I am searching of any advice on if it does sound like it might be the blend door actuator. If so, if anyone possibly knows which actual part I would purchase. The parts on the Ford website are listed as the blend door motor cam, blend door motor level, blend door motor temperature mode actuator and blend door motor air inlet (recirculation).

 

Or, perhaps someone has an idea of something else it could be!

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated as at this time, I simply can't afford to take it to the dealership.

I'm in the same boat man. My A/C was blowing hot air. I changed the evaporator temp sensor and it still does the same thing. My A/C works fine at night. When I turn the A/C on, the compressor kicks on and the car will blow cold air for maybe two seconds then it blows hot air again. I'm lost on this and we are in triple digits here in North Alabama.

I have the same issue. Just the other day my A/C was blowing hot air. I have not changed anything yet. I want to drop it off to the dealer and see what they say. Another day it was back blowing cold air for a while then it was like it was winter over again, hot air. This will be the 3 thing that has gone on my car in about 8 weeks. I had 2 front calipers go in about 3 weeks apart. I just turned 64k. I would expect these thing with higher mileage. I had a f150 before the fusion and nothing went on that truck. No caliper, no a/c issue.

When the car first started doing this, I could correct the condition by turning off the ignition and restarting the car. This solution no longer works. I have made an appointment at my Ford dealer to have this repaired. The fan speed switch works properly and I can select which vents the air should blow from (floor, dash, def, etc). I would appreciate any advice on how to properly describe my problem to the dealer.

I got my car back from the dealership today, 8/3/15. They had the car for a week. It wasn't so inconvenient because I was provided a loaner car, since I bought my car there. In fact I bought 5 new Fords there so I must be considered a good customer. I was told that the technicians had to call on factory support to diagnose the cause of the system failure. Two parts were replaced, the blend door motor (AE5Z 19E616A) and the control module (9E5Z 19980G). Labor $285 and parts $273. I used the A/C all the way home from the dealership and it seemed to work fine. My car is garage kept and gets little use because of my medical disability (muscular dystrophy). I will update this post if the A/C system does not continue to work.

I have had this problem intermittently, but today I sees to be consistent. Did this fix your problem? And what dealer do you deal with, I purchased my car from Milham and That is where I typically take it for warranty issues

This thread has been dormant for some time. I am not sure if someone is still experiencing a problem and if so, what are the symptoms?

I'm new to this forum, so please pardon me,if this isn't the right place to ask a question.

 

I have a 2010 Ford fusion se, the air is just blowing hot air, and it won't take any refrigerant. The compressor won't come on. Does anyone know where we can find the low pressure switch? To possibly jump it?

If anyone is still out there and interested...

I'm in the middle of going through this now, here is where I was, and am at....

 

My AC turned hot one day, the next day it was cold, then turned hot again, and now it is only cold for a second no matter what, before it turns hot.

I followed the workaround with the resistor. Except I had the blue plug, and wire 14 was missing on mine, so I cut 13 and 15 and used male connectors on those wires, and female connectors on a 47k Ohm 1/4W resistor and it worked. I also put female connectors on the wires coming out of the blue plug. This is important to do because in my workaround fix, I got AC through main vents or nothing at all. Meaning, if it rained, my defrost would not work, heat will not work. So, in a few seconds, if I run into rain or a cold day, I simply unplug the resistor and plug the car back in. Also, you must turn the AC off and run the fan a few minutes before you shut the car off or you will get a nasty smell (mildew).

 

Ok, so, I attempted to replace the sensor. it did not work. Fearing that I bought a bad sensor (chances are slim to none), I tested the old sensor's continuity, and it was fine. So, for all the people it did work for, congrats. It took me about 6 hours to pull my dash forward, swap sensors and replace dash. But I saved about $700, especially considering that wouldn't have fixed it.

 

So now, I just stumbled across this forum and post. JS_Bethlehem, THANK YOU!!! For everyone that keeps asking if the solution he posted worked, he said it did. So, I'm onto my next step. In the meantime, the workaround works amazing, and is helping me keep my sanity. My first next step is to try to replace the blend door motor (AE5Z 19E616A), because it's cheapest ($50). (why did my text turn blue?) . My next step will be to try the control module (9E5Z 19980G) because it's more expensive ($250).

 

I'll post results, but after a month of researching and tinkering and becoming frustrated beyond belief, this is the first post to have a logical answer and solution.. For the first time in a month, I'm hopeful.

I have the same issue on my 2010 Fusion. Taken it to a mechanic 4 times so far and they have not been able to fix it. They did an AC check and re-charged the freon the first time; 2nd time they couldn't find anything wrong becuase they couldn't duplicate the issue; 3rd time I left it running "hot" and took it back and made them check it out, they figured out the blend door is the problem and replaced the motor that controls it. Although this helped for a couple weeks, the AC is now running hot again; took it back a 4th time and they couldn't duplicate the issue (again). My husband suggested they replace the control module, but since they couldn't duplicate the issue while they had the car (even though they witnessed it was blowing hot before I turned the car off), they wouldn't do anything. Day to day I don't know if I'm going to have AC or not. Yesterday the AC worked perfectly. Today it was blowing hot again. I think I just want a new car.

Ultimately, I think we need a simple trouble-shooting guide in this forum as it doesn't seem that people or reading and learning from previous posts.

It needs to be maintained by someone who is competent so it doesn't include useless or confusing suggestions.

 

For Kimber, I would ask the following initial questions:

Do you hear the compressor kick-in/out when you select/deselect a/c?

When you turn the temperature control, does the blend door actuator move (you can sometimes hear it or you can feel the end of the shaft)?

Disconnect the battery. If it is a module problem, this forces the module's memory to reset. Very often, in my experience, this is a simple and effective thing to try, and you shouldn't do anything else until you've tried this. If it helps, it doesn't mean the module is necessarily bad, but if it helps for longer than anything else has, it's a good argument for module replacement.

I do not know why but I've noticed that on my car this does not happen when head lights are on. So I took it to the dealership and it was blowing hot air on the way there but after a short period it started to blow cold air again, what was different? Fog lights turned on when I went in the dealer garage. They could not find anything wrong but since that day I just keep lights on, including fog lights and my a/c hasn't blown hot air again. Just to try, the other day I turned off lights and within a minute, hot air came out. Help!

I too am having this problem.

 

Compressor is running Hi/Low pressures sides are hot/cold. A/C will start to blow somewhat cold when I turn on the car, but with in 45 seconds switch to hotter than ambient temperature. I think it's the Blend Door Actuator, but there has been mention of a module (I assume a piece of electronics) that could be bad as well. There is also mention of an Evap Sensor, but since the compressor is running, I don't think it is this. I have also seen in this thread mention of disconnecting the battery, what does this actually do? Why would it work?

 

Is there a way to diagnose which part is actually bad?

 

Edit. I went and stuck my head by the Blend door Actuator and had my girlfriend move from hot to cold. I can hear it move from hot to cold and back. Sounds like it flutters for a second then switches back to heat when switching between from cold to hot. It will also stay on cold for a little longer when moving from hot to cold on knob slowly. In the end it always goes back to the hot position for some reason.

Thank you so much #19 our 2011 Fusion was having this same issue so I came on here to see if others were having as well and I found tons; but not really a fix for the issue, that is till I read your entry!!! I did notice when I'd start the car it would blow as it always did before, for about 3-4 min (now I know was til lights went out) then would switch off to hot...so when I read your comment I tried it and it works so far!!! I am inclined also to agree with #18 about the battery disconnect/ module reset. Will do a little method testing to determine if I need to do so. Will post results.

I have to jump in for a bit on this one. I have had and tried most everything on this thread with the exception of I have to disconnect my battery terminal every time since replacing the sensor in order for the clutch to engage. Has anyone else encountered this and if so what was the outcome? Any and all advice/help would be greatly appreciated.
