2013 Fusion SE Cloth Seats - Back Hurting

Just got a new to me 2013 Fusion SE AWD 2.0 (cloth seats). It felt comfortable on the test drive, however now a couple of weeks in the seats are killing my back. The top rib and stitching between the top rib and the second rib pushes on my back - Tried moving the seat every which way and can not seem to get away from it.

I am 5 foot 6 and about 147 pounds. My wife is 5 feet and it does not bother her.

Anybody feel this in their seats?

Same here. We got a 2013 SE 2.5 with power driver's seat about a month ago, 68,000 miles on it. My back starts hurting really bad about 10 minutes into driving. The seat feels sunken in, like I'm sitting in a bowl. I'm 5 foot 6 inches and 155 pounds. Like you, I've tried adjusting it every way it'll adjust, but nothing helps. Does anyone here know if later models use this same seat? Thanks.

Hi, I have a 2016 SE with cloth seats and had a similar problem. The seats felt fine on the test drive. On the test drive my only real concern was the foot rest. It felt wrong because it is too far up causing me to always have to keep my knees bent. Anyways after purchasing the car I realized that the foot rest problem was worse then I first thought. In addition after driving for more then 10 minutes I would get really uncomfortable. my back and legs will feel really hot as if the seat is suffocating my butt. I usually like cloth seats due to there breath-ability but these where just outright awful. I found a solution to both of the problems. Its not the cheapest solution but by no means expensive. It is also no the most elegant of solutions, but far from ghetto. It also took a little arts and crafts. so in short here goes. I now have three additional layers on my seat, and half of a foam yoga block as my new foot rest. For starters I put a Wooden Beaded Seat Cover on my seat, not the ones that go over the seat rather one that is divided in two. One half the seat portion the next half the back portion. I then bought a 1 inch twin size latex mattress topper. the topper was then divided in half along the length, out of the two pieces I divided one of them in half again along the width. giving me two perfect covers one for the drivers seat and one for the passenger seat. I was also left with a long piece that I may use for the back seat. I then placed the latex over the wooden beaded seat cover. Finally I bought a velour side-less seat cover to place over the whole thing. This gave the seats a presentable look and also a much nicer feel then the sock cloth/plastic. The side-less seat covers also left the airbags open (just make sure the straps aren't on top of the airbag portion). I also had to cut a whole in the latex so a piece that gets tucked into the seat can get through. In order to cut the latex one would need a serrated knife and a straight edge. I used an aluminum yard stick as my straight edge. Anyway before I did this after 10 minutes I would get uncomfortable. now the seats feel luxurious. Even after driving for over an hour I still feel comfortable. the seat covers are side-less so one can see some of the latex coming through. I put some black clothe tape along the edges of the latex, so that the latex doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. But if one wanted a classy job he can probably get a professional upholstery to finish off the work. finally I cut half of a yoga block and glued it to the inside edge of the foot rest. If one looks he would see an indentation to the right of the foot rest where a half of a yoga block will fit right in, giving one an extra inch or two for there feet. that solved my foot rest problem. I hoped this helped. Even if you don't want to do this whole thing, part of this solution might work for you.

My back pain has gone away, but I still feel like I'm sunken into the seat. At the local dealership the other day, I sat in a brand new Fusion and the difference in that car's seat and mine is quite noticeable. The new car seat's back and bottom are much firmer and flatter than mine. I suspect that the previous owner is fairly large and heavy and is the reason why my seat is sunken in.

The seats are a complaint of mine too in the Lounge topic 'what don't you like about your Fusion'. I guarantee the 2016 models haven't improved, at least for cloth seats. Had I known they were very uncomfortable on long trips, I would have sprung for the luxury package.

I have a 2013 Fusion as well with the cloth seats, I'm 5'10 250 and they aren't very comfortable for me lol. For me the side bolsters just don't fit my, but I did test drive an SEL with the leather seats that did not have as an aggressive side bolster so I think I may try to find some leather seats without the bolsters on Craigslist.
