When I stopped I could smell the heat the rear rim was throwing off.i put my hand to rim and it was smoking hot the other 3 were fine . driver side rear, has anyone experience this or any ideas what it may be?

marbles
Thanks akirby. I just read a few post's not from this site just a general Google search. people really were complaining about the brake system ect hopefully doesn't become the same money people said .I should probably have it changed?
propwash
I agree. It sounds like a stuck caliper, or maybe the cable to the parking brake is seized up and not releasing completely. That happened to me once, and I couldn't believe how hot the wheel got after only about a mile of driving. I got the cable unstuck and lubed all the components of the parking brake system, and I had no more problems.
akirby
Have it checked - could just be the parking brake as propwash says. Or the caliper pins just need to be greased. Worst case is you may need a new caliper.
marbles
I drove home after work, and it was fine I will definitely get brakes done soon anyways, front rotors are warped I can feel it wheb I'm slow in down . I just had oil change at ford and they mentioned brake pads were getting low all around. Probably 500 in parts. ....
DuratorqSupporter
Replacing the brakes yourself wouldn't be hard to do, I could even provide you a walkthrough, but I'm almost positive that there is a step by step somewhere on youtube. I like Eric the Car guy, if you check his channel out I'm almost positive he could walk you through the basic do's and don'ts and you would save a heap of cash provided you have some basic hand tools. Specialty tools not required either, just get yourself something to chock a wheel with, and use the jack that Ford supplies to change a spare.
