Aerone
Well, considering that my truck's engine block just exploded(wtf?)... I am now in the market of buying a vehicle within a few weeks here. I've been heavily considering a Ford Fusion Sport 2012 and I'm now wanting to know... Are there any known issues with it? I've been looking around and I've seen the Tb be an issue for the non-sport versions as well as the transmission going out as well, on the non-sport models. I can't really find any big issues with the sport model that's like, wide spread or anything. At this point, I'm just trying to see if it will be reliable for years to come. The car I'm thinking of buying has like 47k miles on it. Thanks for the help everyone.
BlueOval2010
Mine's a 2010 and the main problems I've had are: Broken moon roof track, which I "fixed" by removing the wind deflector so the moon roof will shut properly; The speaker for the reverse and cross-traffic warning crapped out. It's located under the rear parcel shelf; driver side heated seat failed (more on this in another post I'm going to make); removed and cleaned the TB, very easy task. All of these issues are somewhat common and the fixes are easy and well documented on this site. Also check the chrome trim piece above the rear license plate for rust around the corners. Engine, transmission, and electronics good so far @55K miles. Good Luck! Edited October 18, 2015 by BlueOval2010
Aerone
Well, looks like it wasn't an engine block failure; it was just the heating control valve got old and busted... Luckily. Still thank you for the post, I still plan to get this car very soon because I was nearly SOL without a car.
indifferent
What blue oval said. I'll throw in I have had to replace driver side window regulator twice now. Also control arm, TB issues. I have lucked out so far no rust or sun roof issues
Aerone
What TB issues did you have?
indifferent
Same as everyone else, Long story short the same issues the recalled engines had they just didn't recall the 3.5. I cleaned it twice finally just broke down and replaced it.
Aerone
Lol. I was hoping you wouldn't say that. Well, even if that does happen... How much would I expect to cough up for it(and does the fix even last long)?
indifferent
It's a 20 min repair job. haven't had an issue since. I think i got the TB online for like 190ish new. Dealership wanted north of $600 for install.
Aerone
$600 is a lot of money lol. Other than that, would you say this car is reliable?
indifferent
Just as much as any other car in its class. It's still full of moving parts made by the lowest bidder. Take care of it it will take care of you.
BlackBetty
Not many problems with mine either. Noisy blower motor and faulty heated seat. Both replaced under warranty. I also had the blind spot sensor go (also replaced on warranty). Other then that just normal maintenance and it has been fine @66000km's. One thing.. The factory brakes suck. Lol
megaspeed
2012 Fusion Sport here in blue. Everything is working well so far, but the interior is starting to rattle more and more. The annoying thing is that you can never figure out where the rattle is coming from. I actually had the rattle issue from the very start and it left a bad taste in me. Engine and transmission are very smooth, but the built quality of the interior is poor. Will be looking for a better made car on my next purchase. Btw, the other Fusion I own is 2007 and it's much more solid! Edited November 22, 2015 by megaspeed
BlueOval2010
That's odd - the interior in my 2010 is solid with no rattles. Maybe yours was taken apart for some reason? Interior trim pieces don't always go back together gracefully.

megaspeed
Hi megaspeed, I recommend reaching out to your dealer to have these rattles looked at. What's your current mileage? Meagan Current milage is about 37K. I don't even dare going to the dealer for something like this. When I asked them to do a tire balancing, they scratched my wheels and acted like nothing happened. It didn't even occur to them that they need to pay attention and be more carful when they do any type of work. This was done at Hasset Ford in Wantagh, NY.
