mwinders
I have a 2012 Fusion SEL 2.4L. It came with ambient lighting and worked great. One day I noticed that it was no longer working, I pulled the fuse and it was ok. I am at my wits end with this. Has any one else had this issue? Possible fix?
propwash
Are you sure that the switch didn't get turned off accidentally? There is a switch on the center panel below the radio and climate controls that changes the ambient lighting color. One of the settings on that switch is "off." On mine, "off" comes between pink and white as I scroll through the colors. Check and make sure your switch didn't get set to off by accident.
kauaikarl
I just bought a used 2012 fusion SEL. When I cycle the ambient lighting switch under the climate controls, nothing happens. I did this with the car running and headlights on. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this problem? I looked on-line for my car's wiring diagram for ambient lighting and couldn't find anything usefull Thanks
eGuru
Did you adjust the ambient dimmer switch? Not likely a fuse (F41) problem since it feeds window and door locks also - you would have noticed those not working.
Fusing10
Would the 2010 SE have ambient lighting?
eGuru
Ambient lighting was an option.
drolds1
AFAIK, for the 2010 MY, ambient lighting was not an option on the SE. It was standard equipment on the SEL. An add-on kit was available from Ford Accessories.
Sara330
I also have a similar issue. I have a 2012 Ford Fusion SEL, I have the ambient button below the climate controls. When I push it, nothing happens. Is this a wire problem, bulb problem?
bangster
Every light is a tri-color LED with a single controller for them all. I would guess that the controller or switch has gone bad. They are a single chip tri-color diode with a diffusing lens: Edited September 4, 2019 by bangster
Stadawim
I'm gonna update this thread as well as i have a (perhaps stoopid) question relating to this... When off, do the ambient light controls also control whether the instrument cluster lights stay on or off? Like, during the day? My lights are weird. I've talked about swapping/disabling the DRLs elsewhere, and was curious as to their relation to the instrument cluster lights. My understanding is typically the cluster lights should not be on if the DRLs are the only lights on. Is this so in Fords? Or are the ambient lights the reason the cluster lights are on?
bangster
Ambient lighting, the color controllable ones in the cup holders, under the dash, back of the console, have no bearing on anything else. Was the car Canadian or a rental? True DRL in the US was fleet only. The instrument cluster is always lit up when key is in Run position. Only difference when the head lights are on are then they can be dimmed with the dimmer (not the ambient lighting). I could see poorly wired up aftermarket headlights causing havoc on the system. I don't know about the ones you have, but some wire up weirdly to enable the LED strip, I think they have you wire them to a powered when in run fuse under the hood, which makes sense, but if you have actual DRLs with the headlights, not sure.
fusionpal69
Grrr.... Same issue in my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid SEL. Nothing happens anymore when I push the button. Lights used to work and loved them. Sad.
