What's the coolest car you've ever driven?

I can't pinpoint just one.. I've driven several but here are a few

A good friend of mine picked up a new Lamborghini Huracan and also has a highly optioned McLaren MP4 12C. Any time he gets a new car, he asks if I want to come drive it and get some photos and videos. Of course, I never say no.

Ferrari 458 Italia at Atlanta Motorsports Park outside Atlanta

Porsche 911 GT3

I've also driven the Audi R8 and 911 Turbo. I think the GT3 is my favorite but the engine sound from the Ferrari flat plane crank V8 just behind your head as the trains automatically downshifts is intoxicating.

Of cars I've owned or currently own. My favorite was my 93' Honda Del Sol SI. There was just something SO FUN about pushing that little tiny car to its limits! It was just so lightweight that you could throw it all over the place... and it having a Targa top convertible with a power rear windshield was icing on the cake.

Second place goes to my 86' Porsche 944 Turbo. It's more of a autobahn car, because from a dead stop a horse drawn carriage will beat it off the line. When its turbo spools on the other hand at about 30 mph+ it is blindingly fast and a white knuckle ride for as fast as you are willing to take it. I reach my limits before the car does for sure. I also like it because it has sharp lines and doesn't look like your textbook Porsche cars do with the goofy looking upturned fenders that the Porsche purists go wild for.

3rd is a Shelby Cobra that I got to drive. It is unrefined as all hell, but there is something to be said for the loud roar of that exhaust as it just brute forces itself down the road.

4th Goes to a friend's Audi A7. It does all things pretty well.

The upcoming challenger to this list and a threat for the #1 spot will be the Telsa Model S P90D that I will be test driving pretty soon. I am excited as all get out to get behind the wheel of that one.

I think I just saw that GT3 pic in an article about track day insurance.

I'm sure you did... There were a lot of photos taken that day.

Myself and a friend drove his Corvette to the track. Since the Porsche was undrivable and we had 3 people to get home, I rode home in the fetal position in the hatch area of the Vette. It was a quiet ride home...

Saleen S281 Convertible.

I had two of those.. Bought one used when I was 17 and the other new when I was 19. Sometimes I miss that car.

It was a different 911 - also white but the damage was on the other side. That sucks - hope he had track day insurance.

He didn't :( it was an expensive day at the track Edited by Silver14Ti

My friends '64 Falcon Sprint. He dropped in an engine from a Boss 302 that met with a rather unfortunate end. The engine was balanced & blueprinted with a 3 angle valve job, roller cam, high rise and a Holley double pumper. It was impossible to let the clutch out in the first 3 gears without chirping the tires. The car reeked of Sunoco 103. We never knew how fast it was because it would go every direction but straight when you stood on it. It was as terrifying to drive as it was fun.

Sounds fun! I love the smell of race gas!

My next post has a cool car, but was an experience I'll never forget.

I was able to be part of the opening ceremony at the EcoBoost 400 and got some video footage which can be seen below.

It was truly an awesome experience, and you couldn't believe how much work goes into a performance like that. When the day of the race came, I felt honored, excited, and nervous all at the same time. We practiced for days to get the timing correct... and with 6 vehicles, it's difficult. I'm also used to racing in a straight line and I must say, cornering at 120-150 is a huge rush!

Much of our practice did not include the flag and driving under the flag is much different than out in the open.

Both cars had smoke systems, similar to what you would see at an air show to add to the "cool factor". The cars basically had straight pipes from the manifolds back with a nice set of Corsa tips (no mufflers), so they were very loud. We were going off of voice command by handheld radios that were difficult to hear inside the cars.

We also had some hurdles to get through with NASCAR and them allowing the smoke kits. They had to be sure they weren't leaving anything on the track surface.

Great thread topic!

Haven't driven many cool cars. Drove my buddies 2012 Audi S4, a Taurus SHO, Focus ST and a new Mustang GT.

I Went for a ride in a new Camaro ZL1 and my buddies full Subaru STi rally race car! Both cars were totally nuts!

Nothing too crazy but my brother works at a Ford dealership so sometimes I give them a hand moving vehicles.

Fire trucks and Ambulances at work too which is cool to some I guess!

ZL1's are awesome cars! I set the 1/4 mile record and held it for a year with Livernois Motorsports ZL1. It was the first to run a 9-Second 1/4 mile. A lot of people were chasing the 9-second slip, but it wasn't as easy as most thought.

It's kinda in a class all by itself. Working in an auto shop one day, a customer brought in a '53 Chevrolet pickup with a transplanted 327 engine, asking for someone to help with carburetion. He had just installed an Edelbrock manifold and FOUR two-barrel carburetors. Each carburetor sat directly over one pair of inlet ports, with no plenum chamber to connect them together. The thing wasn't running very well, and he was in over his head at trying to get it sorted.

We took on the job, which amounted to synchronizing the four carburetors. It wasn't really very hard; just requires being meticulous. I can't say the test drive was the most fun I've ever had, because it took a feather-light touch on the throttle to keep the tires hooked up. Even a little twitch would smoke the rears, there was so little weight on them. Once you got it moving, It had more power than the factory suspension could handle.

Might have been fun with some heavy ballast in the bed.
