Universal Garage Door Opener (HomeLink)

Recommended Posts

hi guys,

I don't know if I'm posting in the correct section of the forum, I found nothing about HomeLink or Universal Garage Door Opener... My problem is that I'm unable to program this system with my new garage door opener. If was working fine with the previous one. I tried many times to program the new one with the car system (I erased all previous settings) but in-car buttons will never flash rapidly... If I keep pressing both buttons (HomeLink + remote) it will stop blinking after ~30-45 sec then nothing.

Does anyone have a trick?

Thanks.

Did you search in this forum? We have covered this before. Is your new opener made by Chamberlain (Liftmaster, Sears)? If so, there's a compatibility issue with Chamberlain's new technology and Homelink. You may need to purchase a repeater or compatibility bridge to make the opener work. See this thread for details.

FAQs WRT Homelink and Chamberlain repeater.

From Homelink FAQs:

What is a Compatibility Bridge and why would I need one?

The HomeLink Compatibility Bridge Kit is designed to allow compatibility between a newer Chamberlain, Sears Craftsman, or LiftMaster garage door opener fitted with a yellow antenna wire and the HomeLink system in your vehicle. These garage door openers were manufactured in 2011 or later. If your opener does not have a yellow antenna wire or is not one of the brands listed above, please consider purchasing a Universal Receiver to ensure compatibility.

If you don't have a Chamberlain opener, then contact the mfr. of your opener for technical assistance.

BTW, I find "none of your business" as the reply to the 'your interests' portion of your sign-up to be rather rude and uncalled for. You did come here looking for help. That's not exactly the way to make friends.

hi, thanks for your reply.

yes I search in this forum but apparently not deep enough. I didn't know about compatibility bridge, I'm gonna take more information about it. That's the only solution I see since my new garage door opener is kind of "no name" (Leadvision) so I can't contact the manufacturer. If none of this works I'll stick with the handheld transmitter, no big deal.

BTW I answered "not your business" cause it wasn't possible to leave the "your interests" field empty. It may sounds rude, but it sounds inappropriate to me that administrators make this field as "required". I think I have the right to keep some of my private life... private. I answered all the car-related questions and the Earth will keep spinning even if you don't know what my interests are.

Again,thanks for your help.

It's somewhat surprising in this day and age that there's no way to get support from a mfr. of a product like this.

Yes, you're certainly entitled to keep your private life private and life will go on without knowing your interests, but you could have said, " I decline" or "bird watching" or anything to that effect.

I'll contact the site administrator to see why this isn't an optional field.

I agree.

If your homelink setup is older, like pre 2008, then your probably need the Homelink Repeater like mentioned above. I had to do that on my setup with my newer garage door opener.

This is a 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid, so I don't think the HomeLink setup is older than 2012-2013... but I may be wrong?
